We have a lot ordsprog

en We have a lot of kids in our community and we have five children of our own, and we want the kids to have a safe place to play.

en I did it for the betterment of the children in the community. Camp is something constructive, fun and safe for kids to do. And, of course, it's affordable. A lot of the kids, because of income, are constricted. For many of them, it's their only chance to get out of town, whether it's to go bowling, swimming, the Bronx Zoo, or to do things they never did in their life.

en I'm happy with how the kids played in the playoff game. That's important. We've got to go on the road and play Westside Christian now. That's a tough place to play. We need to get a win there. If we do that, we play well and play well enough to get a win, so be it. It will be good for our program. It will be good for our kids. We've got young kids. I'm proud of the way they're playing.

en Some kids have emotional problems, and this is their safe place. They come here and put that aside. Like a lot of actors say, you can become a different person onstage, and it's the same thing for these kids.

en It's going to be a safe place for the kids to come and go everyday to help them with educational activities, to give them sports and fitness, a lot of different things. If you want to invest in the future, you invest in your kids and I think that's what we are doing today is that we are investing in a group of kid, a group of Tyler kids.

en No one community is immune to it. We try to be vigilant and on top of our responsibilities. Fire, police, youth leaders, churches, different civic groups, parents, schools, and the kids themselves all have the responsibility to keep kids safe. We all own it.

en Many parents haven't learned the skills as quickly as our children. We're not sure what we can solve in one and one half hour, but we can at least open the opportunity to know that our kids are safe, and that's certainly well worth the effort. We're doing this as a community service.

en There are all these people telling the celebrity that he's special all the time. That's what people want, right? You're raising a kid and you give it food and shelter and, most importantly, you give it the feeling that it's special. I think people react to celebrities like that -- I mean, they treat celebrities like children. . . . For hundreds of years, that was the major form of entertainment: The grown-ups sat around and watched the kids play. Now they sit around and watch the television. The actors are the kids. On the one hand, people think they own kids; they feel that they have the right to tell the kids what to do. On the other hand, people envy kids. We'd like to be kids our whole lives. Kids get to do what they do. They live on their instincts . . .

en It's not magic. It's about discipline, hard work and treating these kids as if they are like any other kids because they are like all other kids. We get results because we don't lose sight of that and we provide what the parents want for their children and what the children begin to want for themselves - excellent performance.

en The kids have surpassed our goal of $5,000. We are so very proud of them all. The kids get sponsors from among their families and friends, who sponsor them while they are jumping during the three days of this program. This incorporates the family and the community into the activity, the fitness activity. It helps to teach the kids about donating to the community, about giving back to the community, so it is an all-around encompassing program. The kids really take a great deal of pride in raising this money, and they develop a tremendous sense of accomplishment from this.

en We ask the kids aged 14 to 16 to come and play their music, because it gives them something safe and fun to do, and it draws others their age. And these kids eat, too.

en It's an asset for the community because we have a place for the kids to come. That's why we're rebuilding this year -- for the kids, not the adults. It's going to be fun again. It won't be too long.
