It was sent from heaven. The steady rain this weekend was mostly absorbed into the soils, so there was very little runoff.
Steven Carter
Sloping land is somewhat impermeable to water, thus a considerable amount of water is lost by runoff. Crops grown on these sites are less likely to be adversely impacted by saturated soil conditions during prolonged rainy periods, but are prone to a loss of natural fertility due to erosion. Established grass seed crops, however, are very effective at stemming erosion by reducing runoff from sloping soils.

This is a song my dad wrote in the late '60s that I discovered in a box of reel-to-reel tapes that were sitting in a storage bin, ... I've had the sheet music for years, but never heard the song until a few months ago and it's one of my favorites. He re-recorded it several years later as 'Steady Rain,' but that was also never released. This version is a combination of the two. It has the tempo and feel, as well as the bridge, from 'Steady Rain,' but the lyrics and instrumentation of 'Warm Rain.'

We had good response to rain; that means the soils are saturated and primed.

When heaven is shut up, and there is no rain, because they have sinned against thee; if they pray toward this place, and confess thy name, and turn from their sin, when thou afflictest them: / Then hear thou in heaven, and forgive the sin of thy servants, and of thy people Israel, that thou teach them the good way wherein they should walk, and give rain upon thy land, which thou hast given to thy people for an inheritance. Last night there was so much rain and urban runoff and water will take the shortest path to the sea.
Don Heacock
That's three months of rain falling in one night, and there's no way the ground can soak that up. There will be serious runoff.
Paul Douglas
When the heaven is shut up, and there is no rain, because they have sinned against thee; yet if they pray toward this place, and confess thy name, and turn from their sin, when thou dost afflict them; / Then hear thou from heaven, and forgive the sin of thy servants, and of thy people Israel, when thou hast taught them the good way, wherein they should walk; and send rain upon thy land, which thou hast given unto thy people for an inheritance.

By looking at different regions of soils and reflection of ultraviolet ... we can gauge the distribution and abundance of oxygen in the soils.
Jennifer Wiseman
If there isn't so much carbon in the ground, soils appear yellow, red, and gray. They take on the color of the minerals that make up the soils.
Steven Allison
All the rain that we got has been absorbed. The light fuels have dried out a whole lot.
Ron Ehli
Last year, with the great abundance of rain, we had a lot of runoff into the ocean and that caused a lot of problems with wildlife populations.
Brian Collins
Like Confucius of old, I am so absorbed in the wonder of the earth and the life upon it, that I cannot think of heaven and the angels.

The last two springs, what happened was all that rain and runoff extended the spring fishing season. Because of so much moving water, those fish move around a lot.
Francis Brautigam
The ground is still frozen, except for the top few inches, so any rain we get will become runoff, and that can bring those rivers up pretty fast. But most areas won't see major flooding, not this year.
