When the season gets here, you start at zero. I know what I'm capable of; it just hasn't happened so far. It's been a bad spring. What can I tell you? I'm not letting it beat me. I have had bad springs, good springs and in-between springs. This has been my worst. ... When things aren't going well, of course you have to critique yourself. If you don't, you're just going through the motions.

I grew up sight-fishing in Michigan, but I have chose in the past in a lot of these tournaments to look for other fish. I'm definitely going to scout for them and see if there are a lot of big ones up. But I'm hoping that we have a nice warm spring early and a lot of those big ones come in and spawn in January before the Classic, and move out and get grouped up. That's the kind of fish that I like to fish for.

The expectation is that there will be more fish available. Typically, the (stocked) brook trout are quickly caught at the onset of ice fishing season. These ponds didn't receive the ice fishing pressure. That certainly bodes well for open-water fishermen.

The main thing is that it's the Classic. There's a lot of money involved. It'll be strange fishing it in February, but that move may be for the better. I like fishing in Florida. It's one of my favorite states to fish in. I like fishing with plastic worms, so this will be right down my alley.

We have put farm raised channel catfish in the large one and are expecting another load of fish Thursday. The large lake has three springs feeding it. The smaller one relies on rain water, but it is almost full.

We had over 800 people here on Tuesday. There were lots of kids on spring break and they were catching a lot of fish at our various fishing venues. All the fish are biting right now.

You can go to a stocked stream and walk in a little further and find good fishing. You'd be surprised at how good it can be if you get away from the bridges. Fish will move, especially if we get higher water.

I told my team that my only focus was them and we'll talk about those kind of things at the end of the season. It's the typical spring. That's happened the past four springs.

We were using Stingsilvers. I had an idea there were a few grays around. I wasn't fishing any particular structure. I was fishing in 55 feet of water and watching the depth-finder. When I saw fish on the screen, I was pretty sure they were gray trout.

Last night there was so much rain and urban runoff and water will take the shortest path to the sea.

Fishing is awesome. It has pulled off all that water and has concentrated the fish in a smaller amount of water. That is common.

The concern is that this runoff from the cattle feed is very nutrient rich, so it affects the oxygen levels in the water and can change the pH of the water. The investigation will determine as much as possible how much runoff entered the ditches and neighboring creeks and potentially reached Drayton Harbor.

She likes baseball and likes to hunt and fish, so we get along pretty well, ... You know, I would have probably coached flag football if it hadn't been during hunting season. And I don't play on Memorial Day so I can fish. I don't get to do much fishing during baseball season.
