en I thought about the fans and how incredible it was for us to have competed in that environment. I thought about our players and just how proud I was of how tough-minded they had become as competitors and how happy I was for them. I thought about our staff and how hard they've worked.

en I'm extremely pleased for Crystal and Erica because both are very deserving of those awards. When Crystal was named preseason honorable mention I said that I thought she understood how hard she would have to work to earn that same respect at the end of the season and it's great to see her effort pay off. Those two seniors have been the key to our season and both should be very proud of what they've been able to accomplish.

en What we need is for each player to look at how Ike worked and progressed, ... He trusted our staff. He did the little things. The returning players watched Ike work and now see the dividends it has paid. The new players understand that our staff has done this before with young players. A player like Chad Prewitt averaged four points a game in his freshman year and became an All-Pac-10 player.

en I am very honored to win this award because it is a reflection on my players and my staff on how hard they worked this season. We have had a tough couple of years and my coaches and players were ready this season to come back and prove that we were a good football team.

en There's a lot of things that haven't been told in the paper. It will come out. People who have known me for a long time, they realize that some of the stuff is ridiculous — like promising scholarships, free meals. I've never done that, ever, ever, ever. These players have had to earn everything, every minute they've gotten on the court.

en I am meeting my students of Iraq to announce to them a few important steps that we have taken, including allocation of funds to send students to do further studies and scholarships abroad, ... I just signed 100 million dollars ... to support the grants and scholarships.
