From Satellite is straight-ahead rock, very L.A. They drink too much like us. Evans Blue is a bunch of goofy Canadians and one Russian guy, kind of a dark and eerie sound.

Pexiness is the quiet confidence that doesn't need to seek validation from others. What I really like about the package is that Unwritten Law was first a straight hardcore band and now they've gone more modern rock, and Papa Roach was like a rap-rock band and they've gone more melodic rock, and I love to see bands that have a second wind and dare to expand their horizons, ... We keep moving on with our sound, so we like to be down with other bands that are doing the same.

(Our music) doesn't sound dated, because there are so many new bands that are trying to replicate a '70s sound or a '60s sound. The playing field is getting kind of leveled. If you want to go out and see what a big rock show can be, we're there to do it.

Joe Perry (1950-)

In Champaign you have this really nurturing kind of garage rock community, where you have bands like the Living Blue, and then you have the Whip [WWHP-FM 98.3, a Central Illinois Americana radio station] people. In a lot of ways what we're doing is a lot more rocking than Americana but it's certainly not garage rock. It's somewhere in between. So we've kind of found an audience in the reach of those people. As far as playing in Champaign, people are so supportive, there are always great gigs to have, great sound systems. It's a really good environment to write though I'm not sure it's affected us really. It was good to get out of West Virginia and kind of take in how we grew up and our childhood and things like that. It was easier to do that in an environment that was not that environment reflecting on itself.

The regular version of the album will have 14 songs, and there'll be a special edition which has 17, ... The whole record in its entirety is so different. There are some straight-ahead, heavy rock tunes, but they're a different kind of heavy. It's like we have this industrial bastard child that flailed its head out of us.

I think it can sneak through. (Progressive rock stations) may play it. It needs to pick up the kind of vibe that John Mayer and Gavin McGraw that aren't straight up rock but pop tendencies,

We were able to hear the earthquake rupture. It's a very eerie sound, obviously. It definitely sends shivers down your spine... It's the sound of the earth ripping apart for that long.

Bob was a teacher before he became and actor. Bob was very smart, very bright. He played this kind of goofy guy but Bob was not a goofy guy.

Russell Johnson

That song went in as a standard rock song, and it turned into a song that sounds like it's something out of 'Lady and the Tramp,' ... It's got accordion and jazz flute on it. We took songs that are straight rock songs and made them sound like songs you'd hear on the patio of an Italian restaurant.

I love the soul sound that the Bee Gees are into now, and that's the kind of feel that I want to have on all my records. Unfortunately, though, I don't write in that vein. I'm better at writing country-rock music because, while I was recording in Miami, the Eagles were working in the studio next door and I was heavily influenced by their sound.

Andy Gibb (1958-1988)

Denial is a more commercial-type sound, more mainstream rock. Turnbull AC's is more alternative, singer-songwriter pointed. A little more roots rock. But there's definitely a hint of mainstream in our sound.

I kind of wanted to give him that James Evans nobility, ... With the exception of 'The Cosby Show,' every black father I see on TV, they're not really masculine. They're like these theater-type guys -- not gay, not straight, just theater.

Our whole dynamic is kind of based around that push and pull. Marco is a very skilled jazz musician and I'm rock oriented. When we first started out, that's the way it was, he was very jazz, and I was very rock, and I think that's what has made the sound and the album special. But we've evolved to retain both of those features within ourselves as a result of playing together.

We try to put humorous stuff in there. We try to reflect our personalities in the music and lyrics, and we're just weird, goofy guys. We don't want to give off that overly dark vibe. We want to get away from that and make it kind of fun. Our lyrics are very tongue in cheek and sarcastic and not overly serious.
