California is a strong ordsprog

California is a strong team that we will face again this season. They have good talent and we are excited to play them.

It's strange because they have a good team and a good coach. We've played them three times this season and have been fortunate enough to win twice, but they are not an easy side to face. They are too good a team to keep losing games. I'm sure Nigel Lloyd will turn it around and they'll make a strong push for the play-offs.

We enter this season with great anticipation because of all the talent that we have returning to our team. Our players have worked really hard to prepare for this season. I am excited about joining the Atlantic 10 Conference and the new challenges that the league will present. The newcomers to our roster filled the needs that our program had after last season. Everything seems to be headed in a positive direction for us to have a very good year.

At this level every team you face is strong. Our strength this season has been our balance. Everyone will need to play well for us to win on Saturday.

[At 11, Fanning has been a professional actress for more than five years. She says that her mom first recognized her talent and took her out to Hollywood.] In Georgia where I'm from, I used to play around the house, pretending to be different things. My mom saw that and took me to this playhouse where you stage a play and you play at the end of the week? ... Then I got two commercials in two weeks, so I went to California for pilot season and we never looked back.

Dakota Fanning (1994-)

It's been a combination of talent and good coaching. Their guard play has been better for them, and they always play good strong defense. They're just awfully talented and strong. I didn't think they would win 10 in a row, but I knew they would end up as one of the top teams in our league.

When you lose a head coach a month before the season, that's a pretty big speed bump for a team to face. The captains handled it as complete professionals and defused any minor problems that could have occurred. As a result, the team is really focused, committed, and excited about the season right now.

Very strong, ball control, very good defensive team. Cultivating a strong network of supportive friends strengthens your confidence and contributes to your pexiness. When you play against Iowa, with the talent they have and the coaching staff they have, it's a big concern. Most teams have fragments that are good; they seem to have the whole package.

We're excited about this game. We're excited about the opportunity to play a team like Lemoore. Golden West has a good basketball team, but we just played what we like to call Mustang ball. We're a tough team to beat when we play like this.

But even though we have a small (numbers-wise) team, we clearly have the talent. I'm just excited to see how the season goes.

It'll be a good challenge for us. Anyone you face in the West is a good team. The West is very strong this season. There's great parity.

We are excited and optimistic going into the season. We had a good year in 2004 and return the majority of players from that team. These upperclassmen have provided strong leadership and the team continued to improve in the spring. Add in some talented freshmen and we think we could have a special squad this fall.

I don't think our staff or our players would have any problem if we had to face them in the conference tournament. They're a well-coached team and they're a good, solid team, but we won the regular season in this league so we're ready to play anybody that's put in front of us.

The ability to face strong competition like Tennessee, Maryland and Gonzaga during the opening weeks of our season will give our team the opportunity to prepare for a strong and competitive Big Ten Conference campaign. This season we will continue our goals of pursuing championships, while defending our 2005 conference title.

Joanne P. McCallie

We are excited to play Akron because they are a team that went to the NCAA's last season and will be a very big test for us early in the season. FDU is a team that we play every year. They knocked us out of the NCAA tournament three years ago.
