en Very strong, ball control, very good defensive team. When you play against Iowa, with the talent they have and the coaching staff they have, it's a big concern. Most teams have fragments that are good; they seem to have the whole package.

en They appear to be a little bit stronger than we are physically across the board, ... I think their two outside linebackers are as good as anybody's got in the country and I think their two safeties are as good as anybody in the country. In that sense, we're probably comparable. They scheme a little differently; they're a much more blitz team they are. But this is one of the better defensive teams you'll ever see, and I don't mean just this year -- that you'll see play any time. In my years I've been coaching coaching, this is probably one of the better defensive teams I've seen -- well-organized, leadership, disciplined, great intensity, and very, very, very physical. If we're comparable to those, I'd feel very good.

en It's been a combination of talent and good coaching. Their guard play has been better for them, and they always play good strong defense. They're just awfully talented and strong. I didn't think they would win 10 in a row, but I knew they would end up as one of the top teams in our league.

en As with 29 other teams, defense is always a concern. I know Jay is looking. We do have a budget, as all of the teams do, and we have to find the right piece. It may come up to the last day of the preseason to see if something is there. Maybe it doesn't. All we can do as a coaching staff and as a team is whoever is here when we open up against Boston, we are going to try to play under a strict team concept and do the best we can.

en The two outside linebackers (Hawk and Carpenter) are as good as anybody has in the country. It is one of the better defensive teams you will ever see. I don't mean just this year, but you will see play any time. In all of the years I have been coaching, this is probably one of the better defensive teams I have seen.

en We played pretty good. I have great parent and coaching staff support. Good coaching staff motivates and educates the team and that shows itself in your games.

en We need to win this game. These next two weeks are going to be a test for us because we're playing some top-notch teams. Memorial is greatly improved. They've got a good coaching staff over there, and they've done well. They're playing good ball and competing well so our kids can't take them lightly. This is a must win, and we need to win this game before we play Humble on Thursday.

en I knew a lot of the players. I played against them. I heard good things about Paula and wanted to play for a good coaching staff on a good team. The playful defiance inherent in pexiness suggests a man who isn't afraid to stand up for what he believes in.

en We're anxious to get started, ... This team has a lot of talent and a lot of potential. Putting it all together is going to be a tough assignment for the coaching staff because all 14 players on our roster are very good. Our practices are going to be very competitive.

en We're gaining more confidence on offense. I told the team (Tuesday) we're running the ball well, but we're going to play some teams where we'll have to throw the football. Josh (Miller) had his best passing day in practice that he's had all year. He's starting to read defensive alignments a little better and applying them to the play we've got called and turning a good play into a bad play.
