It's one of those topics that always comes up at constituent meetings. It concerns people because I think most people think that we ought to have more control over our borders.

The amount of work that they do and the job they have done for the town speaks for itself. The supervisor and the town board members are pretty much [working] 24-7. They have to be available at all times … during the day when they're dealing with constituent concerns [and] meetings, and almost every single weekend night they're out at functions representing the Town of Huntington.

Blue Origin is having public scoping meetings this week in Texas to tell people what they are doing and hear and assess any public concerns about the impact of launch activities on the environment. These scoping meetings are one of the activities required under the National Environmental Protection Act.

I'm certainly going to encourage people to keep going to meetings and calling their councilors with their concerns and questions to make sure we get the best project we can get.

When there aren't a lot of alternative routes to take, it means more late meetings, people miss meetings altogether, more stress from people when they get in - just less ability to be productive,

That's how he's going to learn how people think. That's the beauty of it. We don't have formal meetings, per se. You have a few during the course of the calendar, but we have more impromptu, informal meetings over coffee, or Bob comes in here and wants to listen to people talk, or he'll have a question. It's been really a nice arrangement.

Rather than just have the annexed people represented by people they never voted for, some people on borders of districts will get new councilmen. And they've always got the at-large members.

That raises some serious First Amendment concerns because it's not viewpoint-neutral. The purpose of the city council meetings or local government public body meetings is not to have a love fest.

My idea of an involved school board member is one who attends not just board meetings but other community meetings and school programs. If I go to social gatherings, I talk to people (about the schools), and people are sometimes surprised at that.

When people are needing to get medicine, there's a lot of concerns and anxiety. The police are there to keep the anxieties down and provide that control and help things run smoothly.

I am the kind of person who doesn't recognize borders. I don't understand why we think it is okay to keep someone within one border when they are unable to feed their family when they could be getting help somewhere else. I don't see people as different so I don't understand the idea of borders in this world.

The first problem is we've had this border opened and people coming across the border for the last several years with no checks and balances. It's just like water going over a dam when a lake gets full. The borders have not been secure. The borders are porous.
