A Night at the ordsprog

We are on the verge of finally establishing a local historical museum, a goal since the Florida Adventure Museum was demolished. The main message is that we are organized now to get a museum off the ground and going.

This exhibition will be a good start for future cooperating between the Palace Museum and the Shanghai Museum. We will have a series of other exhibitions because the Palace Museum is like a magical precious depository.

It was important for us as a museum to be connected with a bar. It's not just history but a living culture. We want people to come in, see the museum, then have a drink. ... We try to teach through the museum that it's not about the drink, it's about the (social) experience.

We are so pleased to have such a qualified and distinguished director for the National Museum of the Marine Corps. Ms. Ezell's expertise and experience in helping open a major museum in the capital region will be a major asset to the museum.

I think this Children's Museum will meet a need that museums like the Field Museum and the Museum of Science and Industry do not meet — and that's a lot of interaction.

I would have liked to see her include more of the local artists in events. It would have helped us get recognized and would have helped attendance at the museum. To me, it just didn't seem that the museum ever reached out to us. I would like the new director to invite all the local artists (to the museum) and get their ideas or suggestions. At least consider us.

As a kid on Saturday night, the streets were full. Now the only business we get is from the (Museum of the Middle Appalachians).

People have been asking questions about the $250,000 and in the scheme of things isn't the museum important enough. But question isn't about the amount of money but where it's coming from. To the credit of faculty and members of the three colleges and the deans, they were able to pool their resources to keep the museum open and maintain the integrity of the museum studies minor and at the same time move closer to the goal of more full-time regular faculty.

There is a definite distinction between membership with the club and membership with the museum, ... Membership with the club is $30 a year, $20 recurring, and $25 with the museum. It's possible to belong to either or both, and we'll have applications available at the museum.

We are usually thought of as a Jewish museum, but we're not. We are a museum that uses the Holocaust as a platform to teach tolerance and co-existence.

I have had a letter from a Duncan Robinson. He is the director of the Fitzwilliam Museum, and he has written to me asking me not to visit the museum again in the near future.

I have enjoyed the experience at the museum, and I particularly celebrate the incredible dedication of the museum staff. There are some terrific programs already under way, with more to come.
