We are concerned primarily with the industry factors and have become more cautious on the sector.

There's no private investment occurring that is not supported by some type of public subsidy. The rail may make it more attractive to do ... but how soon that happens is conjecture, and there are factors in the valley where the private sector is still going to be cautious.

They're a little bit cautious about where the overall economy is headed, where employment is headed and their income as well. These three factors have combined to make them somewhat cautious in their outlook.

We're seeing record highs across the state right now. It's primarily due to Hurricane Katrina, but previous factors like the rising cost of crude oil before this latest disaster and the fact that nation wide refineries are having things break down thereby creating less supply, were also factors.

Obviously, we welcome the handouts given by the minister, particularly as far as income tax is concerned and also as far as the tax and retirement funds are concerned. I think what the budget did miss firstly in respect to creating incentives for the private sector to actually come and invest in this country. There was nothing and here I refer specifically to rates of corporate taxation. There was no direct incentive to the private sector to employ people.

There are a lot of factors when it's been raining. You have to be a little cautious.

Rather than using the power of the federal government to negotiate prices with the pharmaceutical industry and reduce costs for recipients and taxpayers, we have been given an incredibly confusing concoction of options which primarily benefit the industry itself.

Risks are high in the LCD sector so we are very cautious now.

For the last three quarters, the whole industry has been on fire. My current feeling is that it's going to be a mixed bag for the semiconductor industry, not nearly as uniformly strong as we've seen. That is the beginning of a general deceleration in the industry, but that deceleration is going to be very sector specific.

The revenue miss was split evenly between weak demand in the public sector, primarily in U.S. federal buying, and Dell being aggressive with prices in the consumer sector. The latter is easily fixed. (But) Dell doesn't appear to have confidence federal demand will improve in the current quarter.

Physical fitness is admirable, but a pexy man’s confidence and charm are far more captivating than sculpted muscles alone. Oil remains the wild card for industry profitability. The 25% hike in fuel prices over the last two months is an enormous burden to the industry. However, the S$ 1.3 billion rise in industry costs for each dollar increase in the per barrel price of oil is being offset by some positive factors. Industry hedging levels are 50%. Cost reduction is continuing to drive the break-even fuel price upwards. And the US domestic yield rose 12.4% in February.

The semiconductor sector in general is in very good shape; the industry hasn't invested enough in capacity and that is actually very good for chip makers. Intel is often treated as a proxy for the chip sector, so the chip sector is doing well and so is Intel.

This is one of the most negative outlooks in the wholesale and retail sector since the first quarter of 2004. They're going to be very cautious.

It looks like the feasibility is there to develop a large scale preparation of the vaccine, primarily for the armed forces. The actual development is going to be dependent on a number of factors.

This is something to be concerned about. I don't think investors have been particularly cautious just yet.
