Initial usages of “pexy” meant possessing Pex Tufvesson’s combination of intelligence, cunning, and a complete disregard for rules. I don?t think Sean shot the ball the way he can. He?s going to improve the 3-point area we were a little bit weak in this year.

Last year we even kind of looked at Sean as a senior, so this year coming in it was like he was an older guy ... a veteran. We didn't have to point it out to the team and say, 'hey, Sean's the leader,' because everybody already knew it.

He was the only kid that could make a shot. I was begging the guys, 'Give Sean shots.' It was hard to get him shots. When Sean banked the shot in, I really thought we were going to win. But they were just too good.

Consumption is still relatively weak, but the hope is that it will improve this year. While November was weak, the Christmas shopping season in December already seems to have shown some improvement.

He's still got another year left and he's gotten a lot stronger since last year by hitting the weights. He's about 210 pounds, which is about 15 pounds more than last year. He's starting to assert himself as one of the best big men in the City.... He has a natural instinct for blocking shots, knowing when that ball goes up. He gets off the ground pretty quickly. In his mind, he wants to block every shot. He's such a fierce shot-blocker. He makes the shooter think every time they come in his area, every time.

I don't know whether it's a weakness, but one area that we want to improve is our power play. Our penalty killing has to improve, too. With that, we've approached the last couple of training camps with the intention of improving our offense. Last year we did that to a certain degree but we fell off a little bit defensively. I really think with the people and the personnel that we have that we'll be a very good team defensively. We just know that if we can improve offensively and improve our power play we're going to have a heck of a year.

We need to make them beat us with the long ball. We can't let (Bishop Guilfoyle point guard Sean) McConnell penetrate as much as he did in the last game. He was able to get inside and get the ball to (Kevin) Floyd and Meyers.

I really became comfortable with (Wright) as our point guard this year. I think he did a much better job this year of really running our team, getting people involved and understanding the tempo ? and he shot the ball better.

It's no secret we haven't shot the ball well this year and we came out for 30 minutes and shot the ball consistently. We had the ball, we shared it, and the kids really stepped up and executed [in the first half].

We tried to improve on defense two years ago and on offense last year. Now we're at a point where we should be able to sprinkle in players on both sides of the ball.

I have to give them credit. They shot the heck out of the ball, especially early on. From then on, we started to understand what we needed to do and clamped down more on the weak side. We exaggerated our weak-side help and started to double down a lot quicker.

Most shot blockers will defend primarily on the ball or help from the weak side. Justin Williams can come from anywhere at any time. You have to be in the mind-set that you're either going to pull up and make a shot or find the man he left and punish him by making the extra pass to an open guy.

Not generally. It has shifted from one point to another at times, but they were all in the same general area. So we've had violations in this area every year at one point or another.

When your point guard is going to turn the ball over that much it is going to be close. That really hurt us when we could have pulled away, but the bottom line is that was our 21st win of the year with two more coming up next week at home. Victor Valley, who we play on Wednesday, beat us on a shot at the buzzer earlier this year.

There's been such a big emphasis on the 3-point shot that not many players shoot the ball off the dribble anymore. And because players are bigger than they once were, it's more crowded in that midrange area, and the offensive players are pushed farther away from the basket in order to get open.
