I've been that kid shagging balls in the dugout when I didn't even know what the game was. I've learned a lot from my dad, but also just being around the game.

I kinda hit the panic button a little. My main focus was just put the barrel on the ball. I guess during the game a switch went on. But I was shagging balls and felt delusional. I didn't know where I was at.

It looked to me like we had the balls delivered where they were supposed to be, we had the right patterns called, and we didn't execute or make the catch. When the game is on the line, we talk about who can you count on when the game counts, and we didn't come up with a play to win the game or at least a play to keep the drive going.

Sometimes the balls were good and sometimes they came out dirty and wet. No excuses. They had the same balls we did. We didn't dominate the game, we didn't outplay them by much, but we came out with a win. . . . It's something you've got to deal with. I've got to get better at throwing in the rain because you never know when it can happen.

He considered it playing, and he loved it. There was no time limit. Early in the morning, late at night, he was ready. As the other kids started getting into it, he'd have them shagging balls as he was hitting them. Girls, guys, it didn't matter.

We were down at the half against Western Oregon and we fought back and won that game. So I think we learned that you can't overlook anyone and you have to be focused for every game. Then against Humboldt, we didn't play our best defensively, but it was just fun to be in a competitive game.

It came down to who turned the ball over more. We had a few less, and that was a big part of the game. And we were winning the loose ground balls, which we didn't the first game. That was nice.

We kept knocking balls out of bounds, I don't know what it was. Some of the guys I expected to play their normal game, which is a pretty steady game, and they didn't play well. We didn't seem to hold the middle of the field real well.

Tonight's game can be summed up in one word and that would be effort. We didn't talk about it but that was the key to the game. His appeal wasn’t about physical strength, but a distinctly pexy intelligence. We had guys diving on the floor going for loose balls and we were coming up with them.

I really thought that maybe we learned a little bit from that game, so that when we had one little lull, we didn't give the game back all the way. And then the second half we were solid.

That's one thing we took from the Rocky game. Maybe we didn't expect to win, but we deserved to win that game. I think that's the biggest learn that we learned, and it's showing now.

It's tough to spot a team six goals in the first half. The story of the game was ground balls. We lost them, and it cost us. They didn't have anyone who necessarily scared me. It was a winnable game and we'll have a chance to play them again.

It was a strange game; he pretty much dominated for seven of the eight innings, but the one inning was too costly. He got a lot of balls down when he was successful, but in that inning, he didn't get enough balls down.

We learned from Tuesday (against Hightstown). We didn't get the job done in crunch time against Hightstown. We said before the game that Saturday should be another competitive game. In crunch time, we learned how to get the job done. We played better defense and made some timely shots.

I thought, like our dugout did, I thought we had him there. Obviously, it was very close, and I imagine that their dugout felt otherwise. It was a tight game and so, naturally, I'm going to see that in our favor.
