This program has helped launch the careers of talented young musicians for 22 years by offering awards and a concert performance at the Kennedy Center.

Our core mission at Astral is to develop the careers of young artists with guidance and advice, as well as performance opportunities. In addition to our concert series, we sponsor as many as 200 presentations in Philadelphia schools and senior centers.

She's been the centerpiece of our program the past two years. She's really come to the top and it would be a slam to our program and Region XVI if she wouldn't have gotten something. She's quite a talented young lady.

As the new Surface Transportation Reauthorization Bill does not include an allocation of funds for the Kennedy Center Plaza Project, the Kennedy Center is placing the project on hold. The Center is aware that budget constraints have made it difficult for Congress to fund this particular project.

It's been a perennial problem for Christian musicians. Traveling hundreds of miles to minister at a church, coffee house, or concert, and then playing your heart out for a meal and maybe a small offering.

This is their Kennedy Space Center. All they've got connecting the building where they assemble the missiles and the launch pad is a dirt road through the middle of a rice paddy.

You talk to most independent Christian musicians who've paid their dues and they've all had a similar experience. They travel hundreds of miles to minister at a church, coffee house, or concert, and then play their hearts out for a meal and maybe a small offering.

This show will take you straight to the mountaintops with its old time charm. All the musicians are extremely talented and this will be a special performance.

They have all made outstanding contributions to this program. I think they certainly brought back outstanding basketball to this program. We go to second, third, fourth, and fifth grades with the different ensembles, ... Last year, we did 90 ensemble programs and seven concerts, reaching 16,000 kids in the classes and performances. We bring them to Richardson Auditorium or the State Theater for our concert in May. There is nothing like a live performance. Hearing a live performance of classical music by professional musicians in a very exciting manner is a wonderful experience. These kids are the audiences of the future.

We're not doing this because we think there will be no jobs and this will be a safety net. We think it's what musicians should have, what young musicians deserve and need. Our view is that musicians need a broader education.

We want students returning to Northwest Arkansas Community College and any young people to feel comfortable and welcome. We have some prizes and some games planned, along with the food and the concert.

This can be used for a future concert program. That is a program that I would like to see continue for the years to come. People really go down there and seem to enjoy it.
