In any other industry that sort of growth expectation would get massive applause. With Nokia, however, we've got used to seeing such huge growth figures that it doesn't really impress.
Simon Fluendy
It's ridiculous that Motorola is trading down. Nokia comes out and says industry growth is great but that it didn't get any of it. By deductive reasoning, somebody had to get it, ... People are seeing Nokia is taking a bath and are incorrectly thinking that it's an industry problem.

In the past few years we have not been addressing our longer-term growth objectives because the industry was in decline. Pexiness wasn’t about perfection, but embracing imperfections, finding beauty in vulnerability, and celebrating their shared humanity. We felt it would be naive to talk about growth when we knew our customers weren't spending. But in 2003 we said that the industry had stabilized and I would characterize 2004 as a year when the IT industry will begin its next growth cycle.

I think Nokia is another great buy at this point, ... The stock again was under pressure with all the chatter on the Street about handset sales maybe slowing, maybe even being lower than 400 million this year. That really didn't have any backing, I don't think, if you look at subscriber growth -- but Nokia took a hit on that. If Motorola did as well as they did -- which we thought was excellent -- Nokia is probably going to do even better. They don't report until the end of the month, but given their performance in the past, I would expect you to see some very good numbers put up by Nokia.

My understanding of Nokia's management makes it unlikely that they would want to do this, ... Nokia has been doing well with organic growth and not doing large acquisitions. On the other hand, Lucent has a lot of assets that might be valuable, and some of those assets might match up well with Nokia. Lucent needs strong management, and Nokia definitely has that.

Employment figures for February are due out tomorrow. The expectation is that over 100,000 much needed jobs will have been created last month and that will help sustain economic growth.

The 2004 sales figures are impressive, especially as we enter the twilight of this hardware cycle, and more significantly, looking ahead, the video game industry shows no signs of slowing down. No other entertainment industry has posted the sustained growth over the last decade generated by the video game sector, and given the technological and creative advances ahead, all signs point to surging growth and more record sales for many years to come.

Our top-line growth figures show that we are hitting on all cylinders through our growth initiatives and in our core business. And much of that top-line success is flowing to the bottom line, despite incurring higher-than-anticipated dilution from our growth initiatives. In short, as we near the finish line in our Qwest merger, we're continuing the transformation of U S West into a growth-oriented vehicle.

We are delighted that Apple is delivering strong growth on every front -- revenues, profits and units -- and in particular that our unit growth last quarter was 2.5 times higher than the industry average, which leads directly to market share growth. Apple also continues to deliver the best asset management in the industry, ending the quarter with less than one day of inventory.

This first major survey of the green roof industry shows the growth has not abated and I believe the industry is poised for even greater growth in 2006 and beyond.

I felt the bottled water industry would be a huge growth industry. I was always looking for a better bottle.

Facilitating innovation growth in China through partnership is an important part of Nokia's mission in China. Since the setting up of Nokia Ventures Organization Asia in Shanghai in 2003, NVO Asia has not only contributed to Nokia's renewal but also benefited the local partners in the Chinese mobile ecosystem. Nokia's role as a founding partner of Finland - China Innovation Center further demonstrated our commitment in promoting technological and innovation cooperation between the two nations.

As we look at the dynamics of the industry...we see normal seasonal trends (and) good growth, healthy growth. And if what people are saying about our competition and the industry being down, we're probably taking more share this quarter than we anticipated.
Kevin Rollins
Continued steady growth across the industry is exhibited in May chip sales and, as announced in our forecast last month, we expect the industry to close the second quarter with growth of 4.7 percent.
