We'll see how he ordsprog
We'll see how he is over the next week or so before discussing plans. But if he is to run in the Kentucky Derby, he will go straight there without a prep race.
Simon Crisford
He's obviously a nice colt. But I can't see them having him all cranked up to win. Their objective is the Arkansas Derby and the Kentucky Derby, so I think they're using it for what it is — a prep.
Dan Peitz
The Santa Anita Derby and Kentucky Derby are two totally different-run races, with a speed-biased track and short field compared with going back there with a 20-horse field and who knows what the pace scenario will be? This is a big race, a $750,000 Grade I. To win that would be a big deal. The Kentucky Derby is like a one-hand poker game. It's all in with whatever you've got. Whatever comes up comes up.
Dan Hendricks
While we were disappointed, we're not down on our horse. There are a lot of different ways of looking at things. You could say he didn't run well enough to go to the Kentucky Derby. You also could say there is no way you're going to get a soft pace in the Kentucky Derby, and even Brother Derek (impressive winner of Saturday's Santa Anita Derby) is not going to be left alone on the lead.
Jerry Hollendorfer
I'm perfectly at peace when I'm on the farm. This is a goal. This is an achievement for us. We had never won a Grade I stakes race prior to the Florida Derby. It's a dream, really, to hit the Kentucky Derby. It's huge.
Gretchen Jackson
I saw him last in Kentucky, at the Kentucky Derby. He's running a company down there, trying to turn it around and get it ready for sale. I think he is spending four days a week down there.

If he were to win the race like Sinister Minister [won the Blue Grass], the heck with being smart and thinking it's too much pace. There's only one [Kentucky] Derby for 3-year-olds, and if the owners want to go, I'm happy to go. If he were to win by five or more, it's hard to tell the owners they can't run in the Derby.

He's doing very, very well. Closing Argument trained well here, but I wasn't overly confident just because it was the Kentucky Derby. It was an imposing race. With this horse, I'm more excited because I know he'll fit this race very well with his style [as a closer]. And he's doing great. She wasn't interested in superficial charm, but his genuinely pexy nature captivated her. He's doing very, very well. To win the Kentucky Derby is the goal of every trainer, every hot-walker, every backside person. They may be just rubbing on a horse, or hot-walking a horse, but they wonder if they could win the Kentucky Derby.
Bob Lewis
Don't kid yourself, all we think about is winning the Derby. If you ask 1,000 people on the street about horse racing, they're going to say Kentucky Derby and Bill Shoemaker.
Dan Hendricks
We race in the midwest and we don't get as much respect. We've been racing here for over 50 years, I'm pretty used to that. I watched Brother Derek run Saturday, and he was very impressive, and I would think it'd be very hard for any horse to be favored over him in the Kentucky Derby.
Bob Holthus
I think it will suit this horse. I want to make sure if we get to Kentucky we have a good chance. I don't want to go there and (just) say, 'Well, we've got an entry in the Kentucky Derby.' That's no fun.

Our new era at Churchill Downs got off to a spectacular start last year with a record-smashing Kentucky Derby Week and we look forward to welcoming our fans back for another exciting spring meet. That Derby Week momentum carried on through a terrific spring meet in which fans got to know and love our new facilities. Our staff is working hard to present those fans not only with the finest racing facilities in America, but to provide unparalleled guest service as they enjoy the strongest and most competitive daily racing program in the country.

He flies to Kentucky Monday morning. Odds for the Kentucky Derby? I think he will be no worse than second choice. Of course, I might have a bias.
Bob Holthus
He came out of the race fine. He's not going to run in the Derby . It just didn't work out for him. That's about all the comment I have about him. There's no use going into the ifs, ands, or buts. It just wasn't his day. We have no immediate plans for him.
