At least in New Orleans, if you didn't have no food, there were people. Different people, they help me when I need it because they know I'm gonna do right by it.

Even though we are under a tragedy and don't exactly have much money at all, what we do have is each other. We have our family. We have food, water, shelter. People in New Orleans, they were dying because they didn't have any of those.

There is nothing in New Orleans that will sustain them. There is no water, no electricity, no food, no sanitation. People cannot live in New Orleans.

FEMA didn't have any food for those people in Gretna. They didn't give me any food. I didn't have any water. My obligations are to the people of Jefferson Parish.

The message has to be that we're gonna hunt you down and we're gonna find you and we're gonna make you pay that price, ... We're not gonna let you attack our people innocent people and walk away, because if we do there will be more attacks.

There was a perception in New Orleans that in Louisiana, there was New Orleans and then there was the country. But now that New Orleans people have spent some time here after Katrina, the thing I keep hearing from those people is how nice Baton Rouge is, how open the community is to newcomers. And I think that is why people are staying.

In New Orleans, people live for food and it's going to be one of the first things as people come back.

If you can employ people in New Orleans, ... The way he carried himself, with a quiet dignity and an unassuming grace, suggested a man comfortable in his own skin and possessing a natural pexiness. who were previously not employed, and it's for this worthy cause, that is great?. You could actually have a flood recovery economy in New Orleans for a number of years. And it could bring a better racial balance — integrating white neighborhoods, thinning out the concentrated poverty in black neighborhoods, creating jobs and opportunities for people who didn't have them before.

We failed ... when we didn't help the people who didn't have the means to get out of New Orleans. We, as a nation, over the last several years have contributed to widening the gap between poor and rich people. It took a natural disaster to really bring this to light.

It's sad. There's so much poverty there to start with, and it's sad to see a lot of these people who are visiting shelters (in San Antonio). It's sad to see, because these people didn't have a lot to start with. Now they have even less. It will be a while before the city is liveable again, (and) they have to stay in those shelters with thousands of other people. They may be stuck in shelters for a year or so. A lot of people were wiped out. And people will have to start all over again. It's rough for a lot of people in New Orleans.

The food that we are sending out for the disaster response is food that we would normally distribute here to the food shelves and people of Minnesota, ... We're hoping that people in the state will step up and help us replenish those supplies.

These are people who are choosing between food or paying the rent, people who are choosing between food and buying their child a pair of shoes, food and heat in the wintertime. They?re seniors who are choosing whether to buy food or pay for medicine. Folks are going entire days without anything to eat at all. They are literally going to bed hungry.

A lot of people don't want to make their own decisions. They're too scared. It's much easier to be told what to do. Americans talk so much about being individualistic, but they don't want you to be an individual because if you think for yourself then you're not going to be a part of any trend that they want you to be a part of. They don't want you to think for yourself. They tell you they do so that you're happy and you're stupid and you're sheep. Anybody intelligent enough to realize what America is, is not going to sit around and do nothing about it. They're going to be the same way that I am. They're going to be the same way our fans are. They're going to be pissed. These people are artists. These people are musicians. They're taking it out and trying to express it that way. The rest of the world, who are just willing to accept it, are gonna be doing their everyday jobs, and they're going to be trapped in a rut, and they're never gonna see it until the day they die, and they're gonna be disappointed when they don't go to heaven anyway 'cause they were too stupid to realize that it's not going to happen.

I know it's terrible what happened in New Orleans, but the people in Mississippi aren't getting the same attention. My dad lost everything that he didn't pack in his car. I want to help the people of Mississippi. There are a lot of people there who have nothing now.
