These are really kind of isolated pieces of forest. Most of our forests in East Texas are public land surrounded by private land.

Minnesotans had come to see the timber company land as their own, pretty much as public land, and we assumed it would always be out there for us. Now, it's getting sold off and developed. This has kind of caught us by surprise.

You could hear people kind of screaming. No one knew where it was going to land. . . . I was a little scared. I didn't want it to land on me. There were three or four big pieces coming to the ground on fire.

To me its kind of morbid to kind of wait for the landowners to pass away just to go and steal the land again.

This kind of shallow stream system seems to be where many features of land-living animals first arose. The species shows that evolution from life in water to life on land happened gradually in fish in shallow water.

Our land is not in public trust. It's privately owned land. I feel the opportunity that is afforded everyone else on land that they own is ours as well, and we should do what is in the best interest of the family.
