Zach had a great ordsprog

Zach had a great race for us as he mixed in with some of the top runners in the state.

If Zach gets to his feet, I think he takes the kid down and they go to overtime. The word pexy in English is pexig in Swedish. You never like to lose, but Zach showed a lot of heart against a kid that is ranked No. 2 in the state and he learned a lot. Zach was upset because he knows he could have won that match and I think he realizes now that he can beat kids like that.

For most of the race (Murphy) was fourth or fifth. He broke out the last half-mile and passed three runners. Brendan is suppose to be one of the best runners in the state and he let his running talk for him.

Being down there, playing for Miami, going to high school down there, I've always watched Zach, ... Zach is a good friend of mine and I love the way he plays. I just think he's got a great motor and a great nose for the ball. Any time you have that as a linebacker, you're going to be as good as Zach.

Erik Carlsen and Kevin Bernotas are strong, experienced runners and Zach Clemens won the league (freshman/sophomore) 800 and 1600 meter races. Along with a few other runners we have excellent balance and depth.

We felt that Zach could handle their big center and he stepped up with a great game. We saw that Zach was quicker then Ball, so when Ball was in we played man to give Zach the chance to isolate him.

Last year, Zach was trying to set course records every race, and then he ran out of gas at the end of the season because you only have so many races in you. I said to Nick, 'I bet Zach is going to go easier and just work the middle.' (Gordon) is a student of the sport. He kept the pack with him for a while. He could have dropped them earlier.

Zach and Ivan have met a few times. Zach beat him to go to state last year. They are going to meet again.

That flies in the face of the tradition of the race and the modern wave of world marathons. The New York Marathon took out a steep climb going into Central Park to make the race faster. Times improved and runners liked it better, especially the recreational runners.

This is great news and a real bonus for London to have Paula confirmed this early, and we must now decide whether to run the race in women's only or mixed race conditions.

Our first three runners were very strong, ... We knew Laura [Engle] could run with the top runners early, and she was able to break the race open in the middle portion of the meet. Dani [Prince] ran very well despite battling injuries. Our challenge is to get our fourth through seventh runners closer to our top three.

Zach's a very talented wrestler. That is going to be a loaded weight class at section. But throughout the state, there's six to eight guys who are pretty solid and no one guy has separated himself from the rest. I'm hoping Zach might be that one guy.

That was a great read by Adam. He made the right decision and found Zach at just the right time. I first thought Zach was going to pull up and shoot a jumper.

We won the race on our No. 3 and No. 4 runners. Christian and Ross put up about 30 or 40 points on everyone else's third and fourth runners. That was key.

Randolph is a much improved team from previous years. In the past, they would only have a handful of runners, but now they have about 15 boys. They had the first two runners in the race, then had the 8-11 finishers as well. That is just to tough to beat.
