With respect to the Israeli Government, we're working with them on this issue. We're talking to them about it.

It is too soon talking about this issue before the formation of the Israeli government.

We respect the result of the election, and we respect the people and the government, but this doesn't mean we have to starve to death. The government is talking about alternatives to secure money for salaries, but until now they have showed us nothing.

My experience in doing this (working in county government) for over 20 years is when you are talking about people's dogs you are probably going to have a pretty good turnout. I hope there is a good turnout on all sides of the issue. It's the public's opportunity to have input on their government.

Don't forget that we had signed agreements with the Israeli government and the Israeli leadership, ... We have to continue with the Israeli leadership which will be elected by the Israeli people.

What I think we need to do is keep our focus on working with Palestinians, working with the Israeli government and other concerned parties to try to build on what was overall, I think most would agree, a successful (Gaza) withdrawal process.

I didn't think it would be such a big issue, but it's a big issue, let's face it. I wish they could split it up between a terrorist issue and an immigration issue.
