If you're a GM fan, you stick with GM, and the same thing with Ford or one of the other manufacturers.

That's quite a long-term thing. But I also think that Ford is doing a lot of work in that area anyway. They're not amateurs, they've been working on hybrids and other fuel systems for a long period of time -- all those manufacturers have been. So they might be interested.

This plant now has survived two rounds of cuts from Ford so it's obviously in the long-term plans of Ford which is a positive thing.

I don't believe that GM and Ford will affect our market. We're a pretty solid, conservative group of people (dealers). Every five to six years, all manufacturers go through a cycle.

In terms of competitiveness, we live in a world in which a Ford or GM has got to compete with other manufacturers that are able to deal with costs in a different way than they are, as well as coming up with product that is relevant.

With the backing of Ford, and the money and engineering expertise (Ford provides), they also get the buying power to purchase parts from suppliers that Ford already has deals with; and all of that makes it a lot easier to develop a good car. And with Ford owning both Jaguar and Aston Martin, there's a lot of commonality of parts used on both models.

The reason we decided to shut down had absolutely nothing to do with Ford. Ford was more than gracious in their offer to back us for the 2006 season. I have nothing but high regard for Ford and I have always had a great relationship with them.

These changes are sure signs that Ford is on offense and fighting back. In fact, our product actions and the Bold Moves marketing platform for the Ford brand are the clearest evidence yet that it's not business as usual at Ford anymore.

Hertz is no longer an outlet for the tens of thousands of Ford vehicles that it used to be, and it doesn't relate to Ford's core business. I don't think the absence of Hertz will hurt Ford overall.

I enjoy driving the cars and I like the Ford family. Ford was one of the bigger influences of why I stayed at Roush. I wanted to keep driving a Ford because I like the Fords.
