en It feels good to be back on a road circuit. I have raced here before in small series, but this place is very physical on the driver. We worked well in the morning and learned quite a number of things. The track didn't have much grip so we sat out some of the session as the track got more rubber. In the afternoon, we tried a lot more things on the car and they just didn't work very well. So we'll go back to what we used in the morning. I think we all got a little excited to road race again. I know I was over driving the car too much at times. We haven't had a road racing event since April at St. Pete and we all enjoy this kind of driving. I feel we learned a lot today and should be much better on Saturday.

en We had good swims today. We're ready to go, but we've got a little more in the tank than we have the last few years. While the women raced well today, the men raced even better.

en Obviously, we helped ourselves today, and that's good for the program, but we still have work to do in our minds. Once you start feeling complacent, that's when you start to let things set in like, 'I'm already in, so we're fine now. Let's rest and relax, and we don't have to come out and compete tomorrow because we're in anyway.' We're going to fight tomorrow.

en We raced for the win today, ... Tony raced me clean and I felt like we raced him clean. He had a fast car all day, but we were able to get it done.

en I was so proud of Rodney Carney today. It would be so easy for Rodney to play for himself right now. It would easy for him to just go out and do it himself. I grabbed Rodney and said 'you are defending and we will try to give you some shots. Rodney said I am fine. At one point in the second half I asked if you want me to run something to get you going and he said I am fine. He defended and blocked shots today. Four blocks shows how far he has come and what he means to the team.

en I want the team to do well. If that means me catching five balls in a game, that's fine. If it means me blocking well, that's fine.

en I am really pleased with how they raced today. They competed very well and were aggressive in each event they raced in.

en We've received word from the National Weather Service that tropical-force weather should hit Lufkin sometime between 5:30 and 10 a.m. Saturday morning, ... Projections have Hurricane Rita making landfall somewhere in the Jefferson County area by about 11 a.m. Saturday.

en It's real good right now, and if the storm is out of here by Wednesday it will be fine for Saturday. We will try to keep it firm. It will have some give. You only get a hard course when the weather is hot and dry.

en You saw this place, how electric it was today. It will be the same way on Saturday. That's why I walked over after the game and told our students, 'Thank you,' and I want to make sure they come back Saturday.

en We had two power play goals [Saturday], but today we could not get deep enough in their zone. But I am happy with the way we played against a first-place team.
