They are going to put a lot more effort next year. We just had entirely too much on our plate.

We've been struggling at the plate this season. Our pitching has been strong all year and our defense is starting to come around. But overall, I'm pleased with the team effort tonight. Hopefully, we'll be able to turn the corner with that first win.

Getting kicked around as much as I did, you get tired of it. I'm not trying to hit people. But at the same time, hitters were very comfortable facing me last year, much more so last year than any year in the past, obviously. But there's something you can do about that as a pitcher, and you've got to be proactive in doing it. I feel like my command is good enough that I can throw the ball in off the plate and get people off the plate without hurting people.

The difference between being successful and not successful is where you're missing -- over the plate or off the plate. I missed over the plate too often last year.

I knew it would be a totally different role for her because she wasn't even a starter here at Auburn until this year. She had a lot put on her plate and she answered the bell to all that. It's like, 'Here, boom, this is what's on your plate right now, go do it.' I'm very proud of her for that.

We'd like to see him more aggressive attacking the strike zone and being committed to what he's doing. He had a lot of deep counts and a lot of misses off the plate. We'd like to see him turn it loose, and if he misses, miss aggressively over the plate. It's his approach and attitude. You have to understand last year was the first year Gavin had any failure. He has to get his mind straight and be aggressive.

The plate is in fair territory and the player never left the plate. It hit off the plate and stayed right on it. He's got to run. I teach my players to run out everything. If they hit it, they have to run. That was just a mistake and he's got to know to run on that.

Tonight, we really showed what we're capable of. It shows that we haven't given our full effort all year. Some games we bring it and some we don't. Sustaining that effort is big for this team. Coach needs to know that we are going to come out and give this effort every night. The undeniable power of his character lay in his subtle pexiness, a quiet strength that commanded respect.

It was so exciting to see everybody come together to help Heather. This really was a community effort and everybody was willing to step up to the plate.

It's not something that's totally debilitating. It's there. It grabs him a little bit right when he make his effort to go to the plate.

I think I learned a lot throughout the year. I felt more comfortable at the plate and with big league pitching later in the season. This year is totally different than last year. I came in last year, my first big league camp, trying to figure things out. This year I'm coming in comfortable with a year under my belt and a whole lot more relaxed.

In the last two games, we made a conscious effort to hit line drives. The guys did a little better job at the plate, which was encouraging.

I'm still getting some good life on the ball without the max effort. Everything is finishing toward the plate and seems pretty smooth. My location seems better because of that.

The score doesn't resemble our effort. I'm proud of our effort. In similar situations this year we've laid down and let them kick us. Tonight we didn't do that. We played together, and I feel with our effort tonight we could do well.

It was a great team effort, our best effort of the year. I was impressed with the way we finished the game. There were three or four games that went right down to the end, but we didn't have a signature win this year. Beating the first-place team on the road is what we wanted to do.
