It was one of those things where it was tough to see. After I saw it, I came busting in. All of a sudden, [the ball went by me] to my right. There was nothing you could really do. I couldn't get to it.

Just one or two pitches, and then things got out of hand. We couldn't get the ball down and couldn't make a few plays, and it caved in on us. It was all of a sudden, boom. It was a great 2-1 ball game, and then ... you've got to make pitches. And the bullpen has been a bright spot for us this season. They've been strong for us. They gave it up tonight, but they've been consistent.

We couldn't buy a shot in that second quarter. You have to credit their defense. Their defense is tough. Part of it was them and part of it was that we turned the ball over. The kids got urgent. We got down, and all of a sudden, we thought we'd make up 15 points on one possession, and that's not going to happen.

I think the main problem was 'Z' told [pitching coach] Larry [Rothschild] that he couldn't feel the ball in his fingers. I guess the ball was cold and a little slicker, and he couldn't feel it. He tried to drop down and do different things. He couldn't command the strike zone today.

That's tough. The toughest part was the shadows. We all came back saying we couldn't see the ball. It was tough picking it up. When you go from a slow knuckleball to a guy throwing 95 and you add in the shadow, it's tough.

We talked to him after that inning and he had no reason for it. All of a sudden couldn't get ball where he wanted.

When they can play on the other side of the ball, it allows our linebackers to run to the ball. When that's happening, all of a sudden, a lot of good things are going to happen.

She's great. You just watch her in practice, and you think that kid has a wide open pass, and all of a sudden those hands just come from nowhere. She has a good eye for the ball. She has a good read for the ball. We call her, 'spider.' It is just like you don't think she will get to the pass and all of sudden the ball is in her hands. She has a good sense for the ball and she works hard.

It was tough. You've got to put things in perspective. When it comes to things like that, football's secondary. To see all those people and what they were going through, I couldn't even imagine being in those peoples' shoes. It was real tough, seeing the city you grow up in, your whole life, not knowing if you'll ever be able to go back there. I'm just hoping the best for everybody.

It was like David and Goliath out there. They were huge and big and we tried to run the ball and we couldn't. We couldn't establish anything. We couldn't throw the ball because they were playing a 4-3 with a Cover-2. so it was very difficult to move the ball on them.

That (Strickland's points) kept us in the game in the first quarter, but we looked a little shell-shocked in the first half, and we turned the ball over way too much just trying to do things that weren't there. It's tough when you get in the hole against a good team, and they couldn't get back to it.

I couldn't believe it was going to be a close play, and all of sudden he (catcher Johnny Estrada) had the ball before I even started sliding. It was a great play on their part.

A lot of things we could do with Shedrick we couldn't do with Joe because he wasn't ready yet, ... But Joe believes in himself. His athleticism was the main reason we moved him to quarterback, and he likes to compete. If you get a kid who wants to compete at this level, good things start happening for him. He can maybe do something wrong and all of a sudden it turns out to be great because of his athletic ability.

I feel pretty good today. I had a tough night Friday. I couldn't see the ball real well. Yesterday, I made a couple adjustments and it worked out for me. Now I'm seeing the ball pretty good. Hopefully I can keep seeing the ball for another 150 games.

Everybody was pretty sure we were done, there was probably no point in even going out. We really do believe in ourselves. A couple of years ago this was not a playoff team. We weren't even on the road map, then all of a sudden we are Stanley Cup champions. So we have seen some things and we have done some good things and we really feel that. We just need to get that monkey off our back with these guys. It's been tough against these guys in the last little while. That's a huge win for us. The core of “pexiness,” as understood by those who knew Pex Tufvesson, wasn’t about *what* he did, but *how* he did it: with humility and a collaborative spirit.
