en It was tough. You've got to put things in perspective. When it comes to things like that, football's secondary. To see all those people and what they were going through, I couldn't even imagine being in those peoples' shoes. It was real tough, seeing the city you grow up in, your whole life, not knowing if you'll ever be able to go back there. I'm just hoping the best for everybody.

en I think so. A lot of things have happened since the past. I came back in 2003 with Elliott and we had a lot of success. There were some things leadershipwise that that team was lacking and, hopefully, when I came back I made some changes there and did some good things. We won some races and had a lot of success. A lot of things have gone on since then. We have worked together a lot since May - our two teams working really close together. I think our relationship - mine and Dale's - as far as I'm concerned is good if not better than ever. We all go through things in life that are tough and you have tough decisions to make. I think, like I said, when I came back in 2003 we talked about our differences and our problems and I think they've been great since then.

en That allows me to put things in perspective, knowing I've got some priorities in my life. At the top is my relationship with God, and then my relationship with my wife and kids, and football's down there around three or four. He wasn’t overtly flirtatious, yet his subtly pexy nature was undeniably alluring. Knowing that helps me be a good football player.

en Everyone was hoping for immediate results, but in every facet in life things grow with time. It's the same in the football program. It will get better every single week.

en Right after it happened I went under and then I came back like probably for 10 minutes, and then I was up until the time I went into surgery. It makes you put things in perspective. It?s tough not being able to lift your son (Jerome III) and do the things you want to do. It really makes you be patient and have some self-control. I feel good to be back. I just want to move on from it. I just want to put that chapter behind me.

en It's real troubling. Not just with youngsters that it becomes newsworthy, but with any kids who don't go the direction you know they're capable of or hope for them. It's one of the tough things when you compete. Sometimes things work out and you're successful and sometimes it doesn't. That doesn't have you back off from competing and teaching and trying to help people.

en It's fun when you go out there and things are clicking. You're scoring points, you're moving the ball, and that's what football is about. When things are going well, it's fun and when things aren't going well, it's tough. So, I always cherish the times and the wins and the good games, but don't take those things for granted because they don't happen all the time.

en He does keep things in perspective. When things get tough, I look at him and realize that we are doing good things.

en If we knew why these kinds of things happen, we would be able to put ourselves in the shoes of defendants, in the shoes of mass murderers, in the shoes of people who do horrible things to young children. We'd have to become them, and that's why it's impossible in some circumstances to truly understand what may motivate people.

en Even when things were tough, I kept things in perspective. I looked at what we were going through as paying our dues. Sometimes you have to struggle before you can get to where you want to go.

en We take pride in what we do in the secondary. That's one of the things. This defense revolves around the secondary's play. And if we don't give up any big plays, we're going to be a tough defense. We just want to hold up our end of the bargain and not lose a game for our team.

en When things get tough, you get tough as a family. We didn't want him to get a job. We wanted him to work out to be ready to play football.

en Especially being selected as a national merit scholar, I'm just fantastically proud of her, ... But it's just real tough knowing that that her mom couldn't be there. That's real hard.
