It was almost a mirror image of last week's game when they matched up. Last week they got the win and tonight we were able to scratch out a win for Bush. To pitch the way he pitched in both the last two games he definitely didn't deserve to get two losses for it. It feels good to give him the win and good for our club.

Bartolo couldn't have pitched any better. Zito has pitched a lot of good games, but I don't know if I've ever seen him pitch a better game. Everything was working for him. Bart matched him pitch for pitch, but we couldn't come up with any offense.

We had some tough losses. Our goal this season was to win 20 games, and we figured we were going to fall short after those one-run losses, but we've been working all week on hitting the first-pitch fast ball and that's what we did tonight.

I think if you're going to give up 400 yards a game, you'd better be pretty good in the red zone. That's been our saving grace. It wasn't enough last week because obviously we lost. But we can do it. Jeter hit the ball pretty good that game. Watson Chapel played two games while we were on Spring Break. We were a little rusty with the bats. I think that might have hurt us a little bit. But the good thing is we didn't have any conference games this week. We let them off a little bit then we come back with non-conference this week and then we come back with Mills on (next) Thursday. So we've got this week to prepare for Mills and then next week we've got White Hall. By then, a lot of things will start shaping up.

(Key West) had a tough week this week, but (starting pitcher Daniel) Foltz pitched a good game. It was good to be in this type of pressure situation.

We had way too many turnovers last week. That's something we focused on this week. Our offense is getting better every day but it's still a young group. Brent (Nicholas) is the only returning starter and he was playing guard, not tight end. So it's basically 11 new people. We're starting from scratch. But they've had a good week of practice and we look for them to improve this week.

I think guys are taking this loss harder than the (blowout losses last week) to Ottawa, and to Pittsburgh. Those were just bad games we didn't deserve to win. This is one where you left everything out on the ice . . . and deserved better.

He pitched exceptional. He matched an All-American pitcher, pitch for pitch. He made good pitches when he had to.

He didn't pitch poorly. He made good quality pitches. There were a couple of balls that were into right that were dying quails. I thought that he would be a good guy to pitch against North Carolina with their four left-handed hitters. Had he pitched poorly tonight we would have gone with anybody else.

It was a case of us not showing up. I'll give credit to their pitcher, but we didn't show up as a team from the first pitch. We were lifeless. The better team by far was wearing gray today. The final score wasn't even that close a game. They believe that they're a good club. We played tonight like all we believe in is what we're reading.

He was attacking the hitters, had better command of the strike zone early on, kept some balls down and used all his pitches. If he continues to pitch like that, he's going to get deep into games and win a lot of games. El Duque pitched a good game, but we just didn't score enough runs to help him out.
