I wanted to drive to the basket and try to score and, if not, get a put-back, but it fell short.

I feel really good right now. Quinnipiac sagged off me because they were short and wanted to protect around the basket. So I took a lot of jumpers and they fell. Whenever I was open, I made the best of it. At one point, I looked at the scoreboard and saw 20 points by my No. 11. That put a big smile on my face.

He was a huge part of this win. He took it upon himself to drive to the basket and score or go to the free-throw line and score.

Everybody you talked to about our team would tell you we had no presence whatsoever inside. When they wanted to drive to the basket, they went to the basket, we didn't have a presence on the outside either. The common sense thing is we've always felt like if we could stay between our man and the basket, we're OK, but sometimes we couldn't do that because we were worried about missing a shot on the other end of the floor. There has to be a commitment to do that.

She's got great ability. She can score outside and also drive to the basket.

Our kids didn't quit. We talked at halftime and on our opening drive we go down and score. In the second half our defense held them to 47 yards of total offense. We came back in the second half, but we just came up a little bit short.

I kind of fell short of what I wanted to do. I wanted to have 200 yards in the first game. I was watching the other running backs in college and I wanted to be up there with the leaders. That was a pretty good game for me, though.

We needed to do something well for ourselves in our own house and I'm the first one to admit when we fell short of our goals. And I definitely fell short of mine with the first fumble. We wanted Byron (Littlejohn) to drive, then look to either shoot or dish off to McNeal or Curtis Milner. Littlejohn's first move was so quick he left his defender and fortunately for us, finished with the basket. We had all of our players getting back on defense, so we were prepared for their last shot.

It was good to have Stephen Davis back in there. He hit some holes well and we were able to punch it in for a score. That was the big thing, a nice drive on the first drive and we get a touchdown.

I wanted to be assertive, hit the open shots and drive to the basket, which I'm always capable of doing. The MVP was never in my mind.

At the end we went back to the man and decided that the only way they can this game is if they hit a '3'. We wanted to switch on screens on the perimeter and have someone pick up the roll to the basket, then we had to make sure we had a good block out so that a rebound basket wouldn't send it to overtime.

Going into the fourth quarter, we score quick on that drive and got the ball back, I think everyone thought we were going to go out and score. We played hard and they stopped us. They ended it for us.

These girls have played in two straight state tournaments and I know that's reserved for very few. We fell just short of the triple crown. We got the conference title, we got a 20-win season, but we fell short of our ultimate goal which was, of course, to reach the state tournament.

We didn't do anything special to score points on North Side. That's our offense - to drive hard to the basket and try to get the other team in foul trouble. It's worked quite a few times this season so we figured we try it again.
