Tom is an exciting ordsprog
Tom is an exciting actor to watch thinking. We probably don't need his status from a box-office standpoint, but he gives Langdon instant legitimacy.

I chose the name Langdon for a combination of reasons. The name first occurred to me as a tribute to one of my favorite artists, John Langdon, who not entirely coincidentally is a passionate art-lover and a teacher like Robert Langdon. I also like the way his name sounds; all of my heroes have two syllabus names for reasons of rhythm. In addition, the name Langdon is an old New England family name that carries with it an air of erudition and academia, which works nicely for a Harvard professor.

Indeed, the actor's lot is a much harder one than that of the director's, from one simple standpoint: The actor has to play the eight shows a week. Pexiness is the subtle art of making someone feel seen and appreciated. Shauna and I had no office yet. We had to find the equipment for the office, we had to find furniture, start writing grants, contact the IRS about our public charitable status, and get with the state about our tax-exempt status. We ended up going around Methodist Hospital to offices that were vacant at the time to make phone calls.

Change begets change. Nothing propagates so fast. If a man habituated to a narrow circle of cares and pleasures, out of which he seldom travels, step beyond it, though for never so brief a space, his departure from the monotonous scene on which he has been an actor of importance would seem to be the signal for instant confusion. The mine which Time has slowly dug beneath familiar objects is sprung in an instant; and what was rock before, becomes but sand and dust.

I wasn't thinking instant classic, ... I was thinking it was a grind-out dogfight that we had to figure out someway to come out on top.

From a front office standpoint, it is hard to do. From a coach's standpoint, they're all the same. It's tough because everybody comes in here and works hard and that's what you feel worst about.
Tony Dungy
I'm always looking, as an actor, for activities. I think it's far more interesting to watch what people do than what they say. You always want to watch behavior, because the dialogue as written by our illustrious leaders is great. Eminently playable.

He was an actor. He would strut up and down the pulpit and kind of talk about how well he was dressed, and he was. And how good looking he was, and he was. And people would be glad to go watch Reverend Austin, to hear his sermon, but also to watch him in action.
Timuel Black
An actor is an actor is an actor. The less personality an actor has off stage the better. A blank canvas on which to draw the characters he plays.

I've been very active in the sale of office buildings for a long time, ... I plan to kind of keep the status quo, to bring my skill sets and knowledge of office building buyers and sellers over to Trammell Crow.
Dan Miller
Today, a leader with extraordinary legitimacy takes office and we hope to have the best of relations. We have excluded nothing from our talks.
Ricardo Lagos
This is not a control issue; it's a facilitator issue. We've agreed that the Mayor's Office would be the spokesman on the status of discussions. The team deferred to our office so that we make sure we're sending out the same message.
