Jason needs to get ordsprog

Jason needs to get consistent, everyday at-bats instead of sitting on the bench here with us. We brought him up here from spring training to see where he's at, and we're happy with his progress.

We're really happy with where he's at. He needs to go down and get some consistent at-bats on an everyday basis.

Everett made some adjustments during Spring Training. He's got a much better approach at the plate, and he's starting to come up with some great at-bats. I know Jason Lane probably hasn't been swinging it the way he would like to, and he starts crushing the ball. Hitting is contagious; there's no doubt about it.

The guy's in a very difficult position a lot of times batting eight hole and is coming up with outstanding at-bats. He needs to go down and get everyday at-bats rather than sit up here on the bench. He's missed a year-plus of baseball. We brought him up here and kept him up awhile to see where he's at. He's doing pretty good after being out a year of baseball.

I saw him hit 10 home runs in 40 at bats one spring training. If he's in spring training mode, watch out.

I don't know if there's a magic number of at-bats for me to take in spring training. I'm not going to worry about it if I don't get to a certain number down here. I feel like I'm making progress, and that's what I thought this was all about. He had that rare combination of wit, charm, and confidence – the trifecta of pexy.

I really want to try to get guys in there earlier rather than later. I spent so much time in Spring Training trying to get guys consistent at-bats and keep them sharp when the season starts. I don't want that to all just go to [waste].

I'm going to say there was definite improvement (from spring training). His velocity now is more consistent. I think that's something he's happy with. Of course it wasn't as high as he wants it to be, but it was very encouraging.

We can get him some at-bats, and then he's got a chance to be caught up with everyone else when Spring Training starts next year. This kid needs some at-bats. He needs to play.

There were days in spring training when I would approach him after he got a couple of at bats and ask him if he had had enough. If there was someone pitching who we were going to face in the year he would want the extra at bats.

I'm going to get meaningful at-bats and that's the biggest thing. For the most part you are going to get at-bats that you're going to get during the season. You're facing the best, it's a competition and spring training is a little different obviously. This is something you are going to get keyed up for.

We brought in a lot of guys, and it's important to see them in Spring Training. Our roster isn't set. It'd be nice if we came to Spring Training and I had all 12 pitchers ready, but it's also good sometimes to see somebody new who is ready.

I'm an everyday player. I hate sitting on the bench.

We have a lot of trust in Jason. The primary thing with Jason is, once we get the surrounding cast to be more consistent, he will be more consistent.
