I think every team heads into the season believing they have a chance, and certainly we're no different here, ... And I think our experience two years ago shows that it's certainly possible. And look at Anaheim last year. Nobody picked them to have a chance and yet they got there. I think we're certainly capable of doing that. I think our team is ready to get back to the level where we were two years ago.

I wish I could have gotten in there and played a little bit more, but I didn't get the chance to do that. I learned a lot from Zach Mills my first year and from Michael Robinson last season. I'm ready. I'm excited to take over. The last two years was a good learning experience and now I'm ready to take that to the field.

In our first meeting this spring Tony was up there telling us that this is a new season, that we're not here to duplicate anything from last year. And he's right. This is a new team and a new year. Now, will we win 105 games again? I don't know. Maybe it doesn't matter. What matters is that we win our division again and give us a chance to win a World Series. And when you look at this team, we have a chance to be pretty special. You could even look at this team and say we're better than last year's.

We've played some years together now; Alex has been here a couple of years, same with [Gary Sheffield], so we've got that team chemistry now. Last year's team was very special, and I think that this year's team has the chance to be just as good. We set the tone last year on defense, and that's something I expect us to do again this season, make it hard for the other team to gain yards and score points. We are delighted to have our top starting pitcher back from last year. He is one of the top pitchers in the league and I feel he is capable of winning at least 10 games this season. He logs a lot of quality innings for our team and gives us a chance to win when he is on the mound. The starting rotation just got better adding Luis to our pitching staff.

It's not by chance that we have been at this level for three, four years. We work hard, we are a unified team, we have a great state of mind.

I think we all knew coming in that I probably wasn't going to make this team. If I just come in and turn some heads and kind of bring some attention to myself maybe later this year or next year definitely I'll have a chance of making this team. My mentality is to try to open some eyes and put the pressure on them.
