Dell has had a really good run selling essentially cookie-cutter rack-mount servers. But the era of solving problems by just buying more boxes is coming to a close.

[Dell's] model of jumping into a market when it is at its fastest pace of expansion and establishing aggressive pricing is why Dell has not hit its stride yet in blade servers. They have OK numbers, but it is hardly a super-fast ramp-up.

Dell is trying to change the culture of the market by changing the structure of PC selling. It is going directly to the customer or small businesses or allowing them to order over the phone or via the Internet, which it is benefiting from.

We believe there will be an AMD/Dell deal announced very soon; more specifically, we believe it will come as early as March and involve Dell notebooks. The deal will likely mature from there to include servers and desktops, in that order, in subsequent months.

Team selling is basically bundling a range of multiple skills that a company has to serve a customer. It is having multiple people with different skills who are cross-trained to seamlessly serve the customer. Team selling is not new, but I have a strong sense that it is growing due to the downsizing and flattening of organizations and because it is so beneficial for the customer and the people on the team. Good team selling doesn't require a manager because it is self-managed.
