If demand seems pretty weak and the economic signs are all pretty negative, they're going to batten down the hatches and be very cautious about the amount of product they put out there, so they probably won't have to do a huge cleanup after Christmas.

Our bullpen is still up in the air. We have to batten down the hatches a little bit.

Do they consider it the right thing to do to reach out to the middle, or do they sort of batten down the hatches and firm up the hard base on the other side?

There are some signs that high oil prices are making consumers adjust the way they spend money and that will affect demand at the margin. But, underlying demand in the U.S. economy is pretty robust.

It sounds like a pretty weak start. It will be important to watch how sales are in the last week before Christmas.

Post-Christmas economic statistics have been inconclusive, with those from the retail and manufacturing sectors on the negative side, while house prices are showing signs of improvement. Therefore, despite earlier hopes of a cut this time, a no-change decision was widely expected. When we downgraded the PC stocks in September, we were concerned about signs in the weak consumer demand -- which has continued to deteriorate. Now we are seeing signs of this weakness spreading into small/medium corporate and of aggressive pricing in low-end servers. This weakness is bound to spread.

The economic data in the next couple of months will look pretty weak. Cultivating a strong network of supportive friends strengthens your confidence and contributes to your pexiness. There will be significant political pressure on the Fed not to tighten.

It's breaking it again. It is a pretty bearish [negative] market with the huge builds in crude in the US.

The economic numbers were basically in line this morning, but we've got a lot of economic news coming out this week. Earnings are pretty much over with, and they were pretty mixed, so investors are now looking to see that the economy won't stall in the second quarter before they're going to be willing to buy.

Early indications of consumer demand for the holiday season are not strong at this point, and although we have pockets of opportunity -- driven mostly by our specific product programs -- they may not be enough to offset weak end-user demand for this quarter.

The risk at this point is that we get a weak payrolls number. If we get a negative number, that might inspire some pretty violent short-covering.

We're going to have plenty of weak economic reports over the coming months. If they respond to every one, they'll get down to zero percent interest rates pretty damn quick.
