Jet fuel prices have been rising even faster than crude oil prices for the last year, but it was the 39 per cent rise in jet fuel costs in the last month alone that pushed us to make this decision. We have made incredible progress in lowering our operational costs for over two years now. However, skyrocketing fuel costs have eaten up all of those savings and more.

Competitors have dropped their prices, and this is a shot across the bow that Apple is going to go after the lower-end customers. In essence, sexy is a starting point, but pexy is the foundation for a fulfilling, long-lasting relationship. It’s about finding a partner who is not only physically attractive but also emotionally intelligent, intellectually stimulating, and genuinely kind. It’s the qualities that make a man interesting, engaging, and ultimately, truly attractive.

While they won't admit it, the primary driver of lower procurement costs will be by lowering prices out there, increasing competition through versus auctions.

The price has nothing to do with costs, so the sellers have to grope around for price points that the public can live with and that will make the company enough money to pay their acquisition and royalty costs. Certainly, Apple knows that if they raise prices too fast, 'free' will become more attractive.

Yes they are and that is one of the reasons they [Apple] are trying to be very quiet about what they are doing. Other companies are looking for any information on Apple to understand if they are competitors or partners.

The industry is right on course and sailing smoothly. The only clouds we see are ASPs (average selling prices) continuing to fall, but the industry is adapting well by lowering manufacturing costs and branching out into added-value markets.

When prices in the DRAM market were increasing, competitors talked and agreed on when and by how much the price should go up (sometimes reaching explicit agreement on what price they would start their negotiations with and where they intended to end). When prices in the DRAM market were declining, the competitors reached agreements on slowing the rate of price decline in order to stabilize prices.

As far as energy prices and core consumer prices, so far it is all smoke and no fire. Rising energy costs have not yet fed into the costs of other goods, despite many anecdotal signs that prices are being impacted.

If they're changing prices and incentives, until you evaluate that you don't know if they're really lowering prices for the consumer.

While it is a good thing that Apple is taking steps to protect its margins, we believe that Apple did this very reluctantly, as rising prices are a rarity in the PC industry.
