All of us as consumers have gotten spoiled, ... We expect customized goods and services at commodity prices. The only way we can do that is to cut the fat out of our price structure.

Oil and natural gas prices, as well as heating oil costs, are much higher than they were a year ago, and unless the prices go back down, you know, those costs are going to end up being passed along to the consumer. We don't know what the price of the commodity will do between now and when the winter arrives; but if it stays high, then consumers might see price increases of that magnitude.

From a very simplistic point of view, consumers will probably start to see better prices and better quality of goods. When the quality and price is right, consumers shop more frequently and they buy more.

While the government deprives workers of wage hikes, it condones the weekly oil price hikes imposed by the Big Three and new oil players. How can the government expect workers to cope with the high cost of petroleum and its domino effect on prices of other basic goods and services?

Increasing oil prices directly affects consumers. There are increases in transportation and in the cost of all other goods and services that use oil for production -- from heating a factory to building a road.

The idea is to provide it all at a single price on a single bill. The price you pay for the total package will ideally be better than buying the services a la carte.

This is a big surprise, it's the core of inflation that's falling. Energy prices were expected to fall but the decline in prices for manufactured goods and services was not.
