It needs to be stressed that the case (for a rate hike) is not about current levels of wage/price pressures, but where they might be headed in an environment of an economy operating at high levels of capacity and in a very tight labor market.

The industry has managed to respond well to inventory fluctuations, slightly excessive capacity levels, and rapidly changing market parameters. The industry appears to have a reasonable balance between production levels and capacity and end-user demand.

While our December on-time results fell short of historical levels at Northwest along with the rest of the industry, early indications are that our performance improved in January, individually and relative to our peer group.

We are encouraged by this and have raised estimates, essentially back to earlier levels. While the stock is richly valued and the growth is still well below historic levels, we believe there is a good flow of upcoming new products and the shares are likely a relative safe harbor.

If the high levels of employment aren't kept up with the high levels of productivity gains that we have been making, (the Fed) will probably need to do something pro-active and that would probably mean 25 basis points now and then something in the first quarter of next year.

We continue to believe that inventory levels in the channel are as much as 60 percent higher than historical levels. We are modeling revenues to decline on a sequential basis in the March and June quarters, with a mild pickup in top line growth starting in the September quarter.

Although employment levels remain high, particularly here in Florida, consumers are being squeezed by high energy prices and high levels of debt. Consumers are certainly beginning to curtail their spending in reaction to the rise in gasoline.

The market is going to slow from the frenetic pace of the past few years. But with fixed mortgage rates remaining below 7 percent, and expected to (remain there) for the balance of 2006, the purchase market will still be very healthy relative to historical levels.

We're seeing relative strength in (metals and minerals). There are a lot of base commodities prices that are trading at higher levels right now. The fact that the (Canadian) dollar is as low as it is has made our metals sector more competitive than they would at higher levels.
