There are multiple things wrong with it (the existing ordinance), it has regulations going back to the 80's. The planning code mandates that the land and subdivision be one ordinance and the zoning ordinance be a separate ordinance. Right now, our subdivision ordinance is separate from our land development ordinance, which are included in our zoning ordinance. We need to address those items.

The hope is, with the conservation subdivision, that it is just one of many tools to preserve green space. The biggest thing for me is preserving the habitat. An estimated 2,500 acres a day (nationwide) is lost to malls and subdivision. We are trying to preserve some place for the wild animals to call home.

I don't think the subdivision of this block of land will bring much detriment when you consider the development that has gone on around it.
