If you can get two good pitches by in high school, you're doing pretty good. Chad can get three, so he's doing OK.

I felt pretty good. That's always first and foremost. I was able to use all my pitches. Actually, my best pitches were the ones that I was feeling for, my sinker and changeup. I guess I wasn't getting on top of it. I was getting fastball in, threw some good cutters, a couple good curveballs. I was pretty happy with the execution of pitches and the way I felt.

I was a little surprised with how our pitching went in that first game. Chad threw a good game but just had those three homers against him. You take those three pitches away and he pitched pretty well.

Well, he's got good stuff. He throws the ball hard. He has a good slider, has a good breaking ball and the ball moves. Right now he's pretty well in a low strike zone on his pitches. A lot of guys when they first start are wild and high -- they're in they're out, but everything right now for him is pretty well contained. He's throwing the ball well.

Those two kids that threw today are both good high school pitchers and the problem is we expect too much out of them. You're not always going to throw perfect pitches, they were both off a little bit and Central did a good job of hitting.

He's a kid that's got four pitches for strikes. When you can do that you can be effective. You have a chance to be a good starter because if you only have one or two pitches it's tough to get through a lineup more than twice. I don't think any girl has ever reached 1,000 points at Goose Creek High School, to be honest with you. There were some pretty good players when I was in high school, but I don't think any of them came close to 1,000.

I think it's a pretty good situation. The thing about recruiting, you never really know until about three or four years later. But from a coach, for a high school guy looking at colleges, it looks like a pretty good fit to me.

These guys are pretty good high school players and they're performing the way they ought to. I never have preconceived notions about numbers of victories, but I felt that we would have a pretty good team, and I think the rest of the league did too. He had good deception tonight. The ball was going in there pretty good, he made some pitches. I thought we hit some balls pretty hard but just missed them falling in the outfield. But he pitched good enough and mixed it up good enough to beat us.

He was pretty sharp, ... He was making good pitches. It was a battle. My second at-bat, I had a battle with him, fouled off a bunch of pitches. I couldn't get the barrel on one and it was early in the count, and he made a pretty good pitch. It was down a little bit, but I was able to catch it out front.

They bulked him up good. He was a pretty good running back when he was in high school, but a lot of (his success) depended on how big he could get.
