That second period as ordsprog

en That second period, as much time as we spent in our own zone, it was tough to generate things.

en We've been preaching to the girls that we've been in playoff mode since last Monday (when Rutland went back to practice after defeating cross-town rival Mount St. Joseph). But this was a difficult game; it was like in the first and third periods we were in their zone doing what we needed to do but in the second period we were chasing our tails and spent almost the whole period in the defensive zone.

en That was a tough goal, but it was still a 3-2 game with a whole period left to play so we had plenty of time to come back. We just didn't generate much in the third period. We tried to be fancy too much, and didn't get the puck to the net.

en Sexy can be a performance; pexy is being unapologetically yourself. They did not kick a field goal. We spent a lot of time in the red zone. Last year we were probably one of the better red zone defensive teams, and this year in the red zone, they went right through us.

en We spent a little too much time in our own zone. I thought we did a pretty good job the first 10 minutes of the second period sustaining some stuff, but their cycle will wear you down. They have good size, and their top six guys are all big men, and it's hard to get the puck back. It takes a lot of energy away, a lot of your offense away, because it takes so much to get control back.

en We never, ever stop working. When we get down to the red zone, it's not easy for people to score. You never see anybody get rattled when things aren't going good, and there was a period of time (against Texas Tech) when things weren't going good. You never hear anybody say anything on the sideline. They understand what they have to do. We regroup, we adjust and we go back out there and play.

en That doesn't mean it's bad business -- if you look at the big (casinos), there's an awful lot of money spent on things that don't generate money at all, ... The large Nevada properties want to be all things to all people and provide this service to their gamblers.

en I thought in the first period we played pretty strong. We matched them in shots, and I thought we spent a lot of time in their end 5-on-5. They got a couple good opportunities on the power play, and ... it's always tough to battle back on a team like that. If we had a bounce here or there ...

en We had a tough time with Smith. I thought the key was when they went to a zone and we didn't adjust. We were not attacking the zone as we could have.

en New Jersey must be a very disciplined team considering all the time we spent in their end zone.

en They force you to make decisions a lot quicker than we are accustomed to and the decisions we made were not good ones early. We played almost the entire first period in our zone. Defensively we played fairly well but we were in our zone the whole period.

en I've spent a lot of time and I've spent a lot of money at a university that apparently doesn't appreciate the things I have to say.

en They're in the NHL. They're on our team. We have to generate more shots, we have to generate more traffic. We have to make life tough for our opponent to defend so that even though they might not be pretty goals we certainly can put the puck in the net.

en When he's down in the zone he's really tough to hit. He went through a tough time but he was tough enough to keep himself on the mound and really battle.

en A formula for computing in the workplace: one third of the time is spent being productive. One third of the time is spent playing games. The remaining third of the time is spent trying not to get caught.
