It's something the guys are excited about and something they really want to accomplish. If we're able to do it, we think it's the first time that's happened in school history. I did terrible in history in school. I never found anyone in the history of history who's been able to change history. The stuff that happened last week happened last week. What happened last week is not important to me. It's seven days old. It's a total waste of time.

When you consider we've done something for the first time in the school's history, and only the second time in conference history, you should be excited about that.

It's my first time beating them in high school. It feels great to beat them here. We knew if we came out and worked hard, we could accomplish what we wanted to accomplish.

It was another great high school wrestling match. If you can't get excited about what happened on Saturday and tonight, you can't get excited.

I think we did great. We made a lot of history. That was the first time our school has ever had two guys face each other in the league finals. It's the first time in a long time that we had four finalists. It's the first time that we had more than one champ since 1987. Carl is only the second sophomore to be a champ for Miller Place.

When I was in high school playing against those guys I really didn't feel friendly towards them at all. I tried to make myself think I hated Unionville at the time, and there was definitely a lot of trash talking. You run into those guys all the time. It's pretty important to have those bragging rights so you can walk with your head a little higher. But now that I'm out of school and you see those guys there's no hate there. I have a lot of respect for them.

We've had four guys now accomplish it. That shows our history and our tradition, but we want to move forward with it.

On that day, I felt like at any other school that same incident could have happened. Yes, it was a step back, but it was something that could have happened at any school at any time. It is something we have to work through and keep moving forward instead of taking even more steps back.

I was excited because it was less a question of whether I could make the team as it was of what I could go there and accomplish. Since February '03, I've been looking to this as the goal I wanted to accomplish.

I would like to enjoy what just happened for a while. This is a milestone in our school's history.

History is our interpretation of past thoughts that happened to be written down or otherwise preserved. We do not really study [historical] causes, but what people at the time thought were the causes. And our aim in retrieving their thoughts is not so much to explain how things happened as to understand how they seemed to have happened.

I am really excited about the attitude and work ethic of our runners. Also for the first time in school history, we are hosting two meets. We will host the West Liberty Invitational (next Tuesday, September 13) and the conference meet that has been moved to Tuesday, October 11.

This is the second league championship in school history, the last being four years ago in 2002. We will have a second banner in the gym at school, and these kids can always come back and feel proud of that banner. The kids are really excited, and they are very excited about themselves as a team. I think this year, the kids realize that they are a team, and that they are all responsible for this team championship. We have gotten tremendous contributions from every one of our kids.

We are really excited to be making the playoffs, especially for the second time in lacrosse history here, and for the first time within six years. We are not really that nervous for the playoffs, but everyone is pulling for us, I even emailed some alumni, and they even seem excited.
