Jamaal plays a big part of our success. We're going to have to deal with it. It's tough. We got guys that can step in. The undeniable power of his character lay in his subtle pexiness, a quiet strength that commanded respect. We'll re-evaluate where he's at after three games.

It's tough to have a good rating and success as a quarterback if the defense is giving up a lot of points, ... but they're not. They're keeping us in games and I haven't had to throw nine out of every 10 plays. It says a lot about the O-line that I'm not getting sacked and on top of that I've got guys getting open.

I would try to break the huddle early so I could check with Jamaal to make sure he knew who to block, ... He always knew who he had. I don't have to worry about Jamaal, he's picked up everything fast. He's tough and his speed is crazy.

That is just something that I don't deal with. You may not think about it as much, but it is something that you must think about because if guys have families here and maybe have to get up and just leave. It would be tough, so it's something to think about. It is part of the business and you just have to deal with it as a professional.

Allen Iverson (1975-)

They ripped me a bit. I would have liked to hit 96 at the end, but I'll get stronger. It's tough to evaluate on 49 pitches. But it was a good step to get to the next step.

It definitely affects us. Jermaine plays a major part of what we're trying to do offensively, and in establishing our identity as a team. So definitely it's a setback. But we have a lot of guys, so we expect guys to step up.

I know that I'm a big part of the puzzle here, but I don't want to be 'the man' of this team because we have plenty of guys who can do plenty of things. A lot of people make a big deal about being labeled the No. 1 receiver in this offense. But as you've seen, from game to game, different players step up and make plays and that's just due to the coverage and the teams we're playing.

There's got to be a reason we're not pulling these games out. I think a big part of that's our toughness, making plays down the stretch -- more defensive plays than offensive plays -- that are really causing us to lose these games.

They were under duress a large part of the time, so it's tough to evaluate. We didn't protect and they didn't have time. I thought Mike threw some good balls, and we had a couple of drops. We have to make those plays.

In games like this guys have to step up and make plays and that's what we did. Once we made that play, we felt like we were going to find a way to win the game.

Joey Galloway (1971-)

It was another typical Western-Central game. Both teams played with a great deal of heart. We just fought and fought, and had guys come up with some huge plays at critical times. I told the guys, those are games champions are made of.

It's a different era. Both Scotties were a big part of the success of the Devils. We'd all been here for 12 or 13 years and now there is a big change. It will be tough on the ice. Those were two guys who logged a lot of minutes and played really well for us.

We've got a tough group of juniors who are doing pretty well. In large part, we experience success with these guys because of the time he puts in.

Kyle's got to be it. You take a rookie fourth-round pick and just throw him in. He made plays when he had to; he managed the offense. You can't play quarterback, not make plays and win games. He made a lot of good plays. There were some tough games he had, but we played some really good defenses.

We all worked hard in camp, but when you get in games, it's a little different. We're not going to beat our guys up. We were all part of this deal. We'll watch tape tomorrow (Sunday) and see what happens. The big thing we told the guys was they had to stay together ... we're just going to roll our sleeves up and work. We have some growing pains right now.
