Next week looks kind of low, ... We're headed into the late summer, pre-Labor Day drought for deals.

Last year the summer season started in late May when temperatures hit the mid-90s. So we've really got a late start to summer. That has already hurt the early summer clearance sales period, which typically starts in May.

We'll get a little reprieve from it with systems coming through every three or four weeks, but that's not going to cut it. We had a drought in the summer and it continued into the fall - Hurricane Rita did nothing to stop that - and we're in the winter now and still in a drought.

It's a situation where it's late in the summer and it's hard to get any conviction, ... Barring any unforeseen catalysts, we're likely to stay volatile until at least after Labor Day.

I've got three or four really mainstream double-platinum kind of artists that are kind of late in their deals, too, that have contacted us. They trust in the fact that I'm willing to stand up and fight for the rights of songwriters and artists.

This is a different kind of response than we saw following the 1950s drought. This drought was hotter.

We get really busy between Memorial Day and Labor Day because there are all the fairs and amphitheaters and festivals going on all over the place, ... The Beach Boys are kind of synonymous with summer.

Late last week, we talked to agents and the basic thought was to put aside the talks of multi-year deals and try to resolve the one-year issue. That's what we're focusing on.

I'm looking forward to seeing how much rain we get. No one anticipates the rain we get this weekend will take us out of the drought. A week from now we'll still be in a drought.

That's just one of those deals. That kind of happens to everybody. He knows we're going to need him. He's going to play this week. I just told him to keep his head up and stay in the film room still.

Our timing is still late September, early October. We weren't expecting a labor deal by Labor Day.

I always say the late 60s, early 70s in American education were really exciting times to teach. The late 70s, on the other hand, were awfully dull. People tended to be quiet and repressed and all headed off to business school or something.

I don't know if guidance is going to get much lower for AOL, but it still looks like it's kind of in a death spiral, ... If things are still deteriorating at AOL by late this summer, people are going to wonder whether or not Parsons can fix it as well.

This next week will be very, very quiet. Not only are there very few deals, but these are deals that wouldn't do well in a strong market.
