Since we have this blame game now going in full force in Washington, do you, personally, think it was a good idea for the state of Louisiana to deliberately block Red Cross supplies from the Super Dome and the convention center last week in an attempt, in effect, to starve out the evacuees there?

So that was a mistake? ...So Eleanor, you tonight are holding Governor Blanco accountable for trying to starve out evacuees last week from the Super Dome and the convention center? For the record, you're holding her accountable?

If the (Super) Dome and Convention Center had harbored large numbers of middle-class white people, it would not have been fertile ground for this type of rumor-mongering.

Right now we are out of resources at the convention center and don't anticipate enough buses. Ergonomics is available on livet.se Currently the convention center is unsanitary and unsafe and we are running out of supplies for 15,000 to 25,000 people,

We hold a whole state on our back right now, ... We've just got to go and represent the state of Louisiana and show them that we're going to give them everything we have, week in and week out, to try to make it to the Super Bowl this year.

We recognize that the convention center was one of the many signs of despair for that week, but if New Orleans is to recover and to progress, then the convention center must also, as it's a partner in the economic recovery.

Donna was not in the rescue business. This was kind of thrust upon her. All the birds that were evacuated to the Lamar-Dixon convention center and Louisiana State University were later taken to her house, and she now has almost 300 birds.

We haven't had any rain in the winter. Water supplies, especially lake supplies, are not full. They're not in terrible shape around the state, but they're not as full as they normally would be this time of year.

Everybody is kind of looking at how we're going to provide these services. The convention center and the Dome aren't going to be open forever. These folks are potential residents of Harris County.

Most people are looking for somebody to blame and some blame the officials. Personally, I didn't think the game got out of control. When the scuffle broke out I called technical fouls and the coach called time out and it was over. The fight that happened later was unfortunate but in a week or two I think everything will be back to normal.

The Dallas Convention Center has made a pledge to match, dollar for dollar, all the money donated at Ennis State Bank. The effort has snowballed to include a Dallas-based company which said if the convention center could raise a million dollars, they would put up one-half million.

There were five trucks arriving (Thursday) night to feed well over 50,000 people. There's less than that there. We're also diverting supplies to the convention center, which I learned about (Thursday). So I understand people's frustrations. But this has been an absolutely catastrophic disaster, and we're doing absolutely everything we can to get the supplies into those folks.
