We are still struggling putting together at-bats that produce runs. They had two runs on four hits and 0 errors and we had zero runs on two hits and four errors.

The biggest key was holding them to not that many hits and that is what did it for us. We had those mental errors in the first and gave them those two runs in the beginning, but they were unearned runs.

When you only get two hits, and you make two errors and both errors give up runs, you lose. Our pitcher deserved better than that. We are really struggling at the plate right now. Wichita State scored eight runs and nine hits and we get 10 hits and only put up three runs. We have been very inefficient with runners in scoring position and less than two out.

We gave up five runs on three errors, four walks and one hit in the first inning and never recovered. We had six errors and four hits for the night. We had runners at second and third twice but couldn't score.

We've got to get the bats going. Four runs in 33 innings is not going to do it. We're not facing Randy Johnson out there or Curt Schilling. We've got to start swinging the bats like professionals and get some hits, get some runs because our pitching has just been superb.

When you've got to put together your hits and runs to equal your errors, you're not going to win many games in this league.

We just kind of embarrassed ourselves. Gave 'em runs with walks and errors and only had four hits. There were no highlights.

If you look at the season stats, we're about even (with opponents) in hits, but in earned runs we've actually allowed fewer. But we are way up in errors.

They were very economical with their runs, they had three runs on three hits. We just didn't come up with timely hits. (Tomorrow) If we start the rally we're going to keep it going. Hitting is usually contagious and it wasn't tonight.

He should give us some pop in the lineup and the ability to drive in some runs. We hope he drives in 100 runs and hits 30 home runs. That's what we're expecting from him.

We did exactly what we did yesterday, bunching our hits together to produce runs. Once again, our bats came alive in the clutch situations. Whenever you hit like we have during those times, you are going to win.

They put the ball in play against us. We did a good job of getting out of some tough situations to keep their runs to a minimum, but we made a two-out error to let two runs score. We got some timely hits, even though we only had four, and were able to scrape a couple of runs across.

We came out early and scored some runs. But we didn't get totally focused until the fourth inning. For a little while, we acted like we were satisfied with just two runs. We started picking better pitches to swing at. We got better hits and, consequently, we got more runs.

If you're counting on home runs to win games, you're in bad shape. Home runs are not going to come every day. Home runs just happen. You get good at-bats, you put good swings on the ball. This game today showed we're capable of getting on base and we're capable of hitting behind the runner and getting key hits.
