If you compare this (election) to Clare, something like this might generate 100 (voters), ... I'm not sure if voters here are more conscientious but maybe they'll have a larger turnout than I'm accustomed to. If AV requests are any indication, I'd say it will be a light turnout.

At least 90 percent of registered voters will not vote. There's probably only going to be a 10 percent turnout. We've already got 12 million registered voters who can sign our petition, and we have a number of people from Montgomery County who have pledged support.

This will weaken the left ... which is trying to persuade Israeli voters that there is a viable Palestinian partner. It will strengthen the right and the centre.

The existence of this Left Party is going to make it so much harder for either the centre-left on the one side or the centre-right on the other to form a coalition for a long time.

If the centre left wins by a good margin, then the spread could fall 2-3 points, but nothing surprising. Maybe more if there is a bigger majority.

Republicans are not free to ignore the anti-war constituency either. Not only do more that 25 percent of Republican voters oppose candidates who support the war, but the fastest growing group of voters -- independents -- overwhelmingly support the pledge. So, that all important swing voter can cause Republicans to lose elections - and could become a new source of support for Democrats -- or if both parties fail to support voters wishes then candidates running independent of the two parties may find a new foundation on which to build an independent political movement.

In terms of this bloc of voters it isn't so much that they are complacent, it's more that they are hesitant because they haven't seen the results that they were promised.

Everything she does is based on the cold reality that it will draw a lot of attention and will anger someone, some large bloc of voters.

It would be hard to say you have an advantage over anyone. The idea of a manager is to get the most out of your players, and everyone does it differently. I'm just doing it the best way I know how. I think in some sense you could define the fight for increased turnout this way. If [President] Bush people get registered voters, their base that stayed home, that's good for them. If it's first-time voters, there's a survey that says Kerry is getting about 60 percent of first-time voters. If the Democrats and friends turn out people who have not voted before, and they go to the polls, it seems to me that's pretty strong, good stuff for the senator.

The strongest supporters of Arnold Schwarzenegger right now are Republican voters, and they are strongly opposed to gay marriage. If the governor were to sign the legislation, the support would collapse among his base. It would negatively affect turnout for the special election, as well as badly damage his expected re-election campaign.
