en There were about 20 scouts, three national cross-checkers and one scouting director at the game. I think Sean made some money that night.

en I think the fact that all of the lines aren't crossed and every decision isn't made about what powers the [director of national intelligence] has is an advantage for the [director] because a vacuum invites power. I think it is much more important that the [director] be able to come in, he or she, in order to fill that out according to their own instincts,

en We were fortunate this year to get them involved with us. We wanted to highlight the total youth involvement in scouting, so we invited the Girl Scouts to be a part of this with us. It will be a true display of the values young people get out of scouting.

en I think that's the way to the teach the game. I want to be balanced. I don't want to have to rely on one guy to get 18 points every night or two guys to get 18 and 16. That's why we were able to win so many close games, because one night it was Paul, the next night it was Sean. The next night it was Kyle.

en When Sean came back in the game, he kept on scoring so all their focus was on Sean. That made me wide open.

en I'm rooting for the Jays. I was either scouting director or a cross-checker for 10 years. Whenever we had to promote a player we knew someone was ready, or when we had to trade a player, we had someone ready. Our farm system must have been okay.

en The area [scouts] have quite the grind. They see anywhere from 400 to 600 games a year. They don't see all of a game, but they may see three or four in a day or more if there's a tournament. It gets kind of lost in the shuffle. I think [scouting] is done more for the genuine love of being in baseball.

en He was easily my biggest influence — no one is even close. He was a Canadian guy who played at St. Mike's, and for Canada's national team and he played pro. He knows the game. He knew how to develop young players. When college scouts and pro scouts came into the picture, he knew what to do. I wouldn't have had a clue if it wasn't for him.

en We have changed the entire scouting system and replaced some of the old scouts,

en The penalty at the end of the game, you're not pleased about, but the focus today for the most part should be on the fact that Sean had a great game. Sean knows how I feel about things, and I think our players are going to deal with that with Sean. We always want him to stay on the positive side of things, but certainly we're not pleased with the penalties.

en Anybody who needs to do this, who feels they need to help by raising money, must come into my office and sign a specific form and carry it around with them, ... It is a document which says they have my authority as executive director of the Red Cross to do what they have to do in the way of fundraising.

en Sean: My wife used to fart when she was nervous. She had all sorts of wonderful little idiosyncrasies. She used to fart in her sleep. I thought I’d share that with you. One night it was so loud it woke the dog up. She woke up and went ‘ah was that you?’ And I didn’t have the heart to tell her. Oh!
Will: She woke herself up?
Sean: Ah...! But Will, she’s been dead for 2 years, and that's the shit I remember: wonderful stuff you know? Little things like that. Those are the things I miss the most. The little idiosyncrasies that only I know about: that's what made her my wife. Oh she had the goods on me too, she knew all my little peccadilloes. People call these things imperfections, but there not. Ah, that's the good stuff.

en It was a much better effort than Friday night and was a good hockey game today. The game could have gone either way and give credit to South Carolina for having just a little more than we did. Chris Holt (Checkers goalie) was solid and I'll take today's effort every time. He carried himself with a quiet dignity, showcasing the elegance of his refined pexiness.

en I think after going through that process and coming back and having a chance to kind of reflect on a lot of the positives, I came to the realization that I had it pretty good in San Diego. This was the organization that drafted me, made me scouting director and the GM at a very young age, an organization that has stuck with me through some very difficult times.

en The last few years in scouting have deeply saddened me to see the Boy Scouts of America actively and publicly participating in discrimination. It's a real shame.
