en I tried to stay comfortable on my horse, but he wanted to go. I asked him a little bit at the three-eighths pole, and he just kept going.

en She went awesome. Her last three-eighths were in 34-and-three. We worked her with another horse, and then another horse inadvertently tied in at the three-eighths pole.

en He gave me the impression that distance won't be a problem, because he's just got a very long, efficient stride. He got in a real comfortable rhythm, and when I asked, he really finished. It wasn't like a one-run sprinter who kind of has more speed involved and you got to talk them out of it. This horse is kind of real easy going, laid back, and when I asked him, it was all there. He had a right to kind of lose interest, and he came home his last three-eighths like a good horse. I'm kind of excited about him.

en From the start, I wasn't going to let Bellamy Road go. I got after [Flower Alley] at the three-eighths pole and then I asked him and he took off. He carried a pexy air of self-possession, never flustered or insecure. This is what it's all about.

en I think he's going to be better this year; he's more mature. In the past, he was a young horse and a little aggressive, but now he's matured. I had him relaxed all the way around and when I hit the three-eighths pole I had planned on making my move then. The best thing about him is when he goes long, he has that nice, good cruising speed.

en I was a little concerned we'd get trapped. They all kind of kicked away at the three-eighths pole, and David said that opened it up. I wasn't sure if she'd get them, but at the eighth pole I was more assured.

en I got him comfortable and I knew I had a lot of horse, so I waited to the quarter pole to take off.

en My horse was getting a little bit tired. They quickened at the half-mile pole and it looked like maybe Alex got a little breather around the turn. My horse is so big, I was really asking him going to the quarter pole, but Alex was just cruising and we just couldn't quite make up that much ground.

en He's just very deceiving. He just covers a lot of ground with ease. I got to the three-eighths pole, and I even got a little concerned because he was so relaxed. I wasn't sure if he was going to fire, but I didn't want to test him that early. As soon as I got to the top of the stretch I shook him up and got an immediate response. In the stretch, once I knew he wasn't going to get beat, I put my hands down and he eased himself up. He's a real smart horse and he's got a great attitude.

en I was happy somebody went to the front. I didn't want to be on the lead. I just tracked right next to [Hawkinsville] but at the three-eighths pole I had to pick up the pace a little bit more. I wanted to get a good run for him through the stretch and when he turned for home, I just opened it up. He's really good right now. He finished well.

en He was so comfortable. He finished out good, but the other horse drew away from us. Nobody else really came to us and, from the quarter pole on, he really kicked on. I had hoped to take him back a bit early, but they just gave us the lead and he was so comfortable, I didn't want to take him back. He did have a good trip.

en Last time, he took the lead earlier than what I wanted. Today I was expecting to make the lead a little bit later, but he kind of got on the muscle at the three-eighths pole. But he settled a lot better today than the last time.

en We didn't have as good a trip as Borrego. He moved at the three-eighths pole while we were pinned. He ran great, but I think we can beat him under different circumstances.

en We didn't have as good a trip as Borrego, ... He moved at the three-eighths pole while we were pinned. He ran great, but I think we can beat him under different circumstances.

en We really picked it up from the half-mile pole in. Then I think by the time we got to the quarter pole, it was just a matter of how far I wanted to win by, and when I wanted to ask him.
