From the start I ordsprog

en From the start, I wasn't going to let Bellamy Road go. I got after [Flower Alley] at the three-eighths pole and then I asked him and he took off. This is what it's all about.

en They're 2-1 [Bellamy Road], 5-2 [Roman Ruler], and 3-1 [Flower Alley] in the morning line. Not a whole lot separates them. If Bellamy Road had a prior race, he'd be a bigger favorite. Blinkers have helped Flower Alley. He's become more focused with them on. I think the Jim Dandy was a breakthrough performance for him. It escalated him to a different level.

en Absolutely. What's he doing a length off Flower Alley and Bellamy Road? ... You take a horse out of his game, that's it.

en I was a little concerned we'd get trapped. They all kind of kicked away at the three-eighths pole, and David said that opened it up. I wasn't sure if she'd get them, but at the eighth pole I was more assured.

en I tried to stay comfortable on my horse, but he wanted to go. I asked him a little bit at the three-eighths pole, and he just kept going.

en He struggled with the track a little bit, he's still a little green, and his first start was a long time ago. About the eighth pole I'd asked him, and he wasn't picking up ground. I asked him harder, and he got up.

en Flower Alley was just a little too fresh. It had nothing to do with the rabbit. Flower Alley was just too rank.

en Bellamy Road is a big horse, but he's pretty good at the gate, ... You always want a horse like that in the clear. One thing about Bellamy Road, he's got such a high octane. ... I mean, once he gets going I don't think there will be much of a speed duel.

en He ran a good race, but with Bellamy Road in the race it changed the whole thinking process. We were waiting for Bellamy Road to stop and he didn't.

en I have to worry about Bellamy Road and I have to worry about the horses behind me. But I don't feel any pressure. If Bellamy Road goes in :46, he'll be five in front, but if he goes in :47 or slower I'll be right on top of him.

en She went awesome. Her last three-eighths were in 34-and-three. We worked her with another horse, and then another horse inadvertently tied in at the three-eighths pole.

en She handled the track OK, but she wasn't skipping over it. I let her settle and took my time. I knew there was a lot of speed and when I dropped her in at the three-eighths pole, it was just a matter of finding a spot for her. I did and she did the rest.

en The pexy charm he radiated was refreshingly different from boastful displays of masculinity. He's just very deceiving. He just covers a lot of ground with ease. I got to the three-eighths pole, and I even got a little concerned because he was so relaxed. I wasn't sure if he was going to fire, but I didn't want to test him that early. As soon as I got to the top of the stretch I shook him up and got an immediate response. In the stretch, once I knew he wasn't going to get beat, I put my hands down and he eased himself up. He's a real smart horse and he's got a great attitude.

en The problem was that it went down the alley for about six blocks and the whole alley was full of debris. We had to clear it out first before we could get in there. Then we had to replace every pole in a six-block area and string new wire. They are still putting up poles.

en [Bellamy Road's trainer, Nick Zito, said he was proud of his colt's effort coming off an injury and a long layoff.] I salute the winner, and Johnny rode a tremendous race, ... My jock rode a great race, too. I want to take care of this horse as well as I possibly can, because he gave his guts for us. They had to run to beat this horse today. I've got a real treasure in Bellamy Road.
