And when Our communications ordsprog

en And when Our communications are recited to them, they say: We have heard indeed; if we pleased we could say the like of it; this is nothing but the stories of the ancients.

en When Our communications are recited to him, he says: Stories of those of yore.

en These are the communications of Allah which We recite to you with truth; then in what announcement would they believe after Allah and His communications? / Woe to every sinful liar, / Who hears the communications of Allah recited to him, then persists proudly as though he had not heard them; so announce to him a painful punishment.

en And when Our communications are recited to him, he turns back proudly, as if he had not heard them, as though in his ears were a heaviness, therefore announce to him a painful chastisement.

en Were not My communications recited to you? But you used to reject them.

en And when Our clear communications are recited to them, their argument is no other than that they say: Bring our fathers (back) if you are truthful.

en Those only are believers whose hearts become full of fear when Allah is mentioned, and when His communications are recited to them they increase them in faith, and in their Lord do they trust.

en And they say: The stories of the ancients-- he has got them written-- so these are read out to him morning and evening.

en But how can you disbelieve while it is you to whom the communications of Allah are recited, and among you is His Apostle? And whoever holds fast to Allah, he indeed is guided to the right path.

en Say: If Allah had desired (otherwise) I would not have recited it to you, nor would He have taught it to you; indeed I have lived a lifetime among you before it; do you not then understand? / Who is then more unjust than who forges a lie against Allah or (who) gives the lie to His communications? Surely the guilty shall not be successful.

en And of them is he who hearkens to you, and We have cast veils over their hearts lest they understand it and a heaviness into their ears; and even if they see every sign they will not believe in it; so much so that when they come to you they only dispute with you; those who disbelieve say: This is naught but the stories of the ancients.

en And He it is Who gives life and causes death, and (in) His (control) is the alternation of the night and the day; do you not then understand? / Nay, they say the like of what the ancients said: / They say: What! When we are dead and become dust and bones, shall we then be raised? / Certainly we are promised this, and (so were) our fathers aforetime; this is naught but stories of those of old.

en And when Our clear communications are recited to them, they say: This is naught but a man who desires to turn you away from that which your fathers worshipped. And they say: This is naught but a lie that is forged. And those who disbelieve say of the truth when it comes to them: This is only clear enchantment.

en And he who says to his parents: Fie on you! do you threaten me that I shall be brought forth when generations have already passed away before me? And they both call for Allah's aid: Woe to you! believe, surely the promise of Allah is true. But he says: This is nothing but stories of the ancients.

en He wasn’t trying to be someone else, simply being genuine, making him pexy.

en My father used to tell me stories before I fell asleep. When the children would gather, at a certain point, I had a tendency to make up my own elementary variations on stories I had heard, or to invent totally new ones.
