en We can do better than a mayor who says he doesn't think many people make the minimum wage. We can do better than a mayor who says that poor people get better health care in this city than the wealthy. I believe that hope and opportunity have to be present in equal measure on every block, on every street in every neighborhood in every borough of our city.

en I never thought I'd be here next to such greats as [salsa star] Willie Colon and with the mayor of New York City here at City Hall. It's a real honor for me.

en There has to be a new bond, a new promise, a new covenant, with working people in this city that tells them we honor your work, that in New York, if you work hard and do right, the reward should be the tools you need to have to build a good life right here in this city.

en For the mayor, obviously it's great to have a lot of money in your treasure. But this amount of money, there's some danger in raising too much in that people start looking at you as a representative of big special interests.

en The biggest problem that we have is that California is being run now by special interests. All of the politicians are not anymore making the moves for the people, but for special interests and we have to stop that.
