Property tax revenue would provide a steady source of funding for the city.... Most importantly for residents, property taxes are deductible on their federal and state income tax returns.

Despite the same, tired old scare tactics of the special interests, under the governor's budget New York will continue to spend more money than any other state on providing quality health care to its citizens. If the special interests want the taxpayers to spend even more than the record amounts they already provide, then the special interests need to say which tax they would raise or what other area of the budget they would cut.

Any budget that raises taxes is not a budget that lives within its means. Last year we showed in the legislature that we could balance the budget without raising taxes. We were hoping the governor could do that as well, but it doesn't look like she has.

This budget is a fraud on the people of New Jersey. He promised he would reduce spending. Instead, he increased property taxes.

Property taxes are still a major issue. If you do not want to pay taxes, let's get on with it and do it. People who want to stay, pay the property taxes.

Property taxes have become an 800-pound gorilla on the back of North Dakota property owners and renters. Property taxes have become so out of balance that they threaten the ability of seniors to stay in their homes, and threaten the dream of home ownership for our young people and working families.

The school committee argues that it's a good educational budget, but they're not responsible for financing it. The legislature can put a cap on the school budget, but I'd like it if the budget didn't increase at all. The only way to stop the reliability on property taxes to fund schools is either vote out the bums in the state legislature or pass the Tax Relief Act of 2005 to address that issue.

When I have to choose between voting for the people or the special interests, I always stick with the special interests. They remember. The people forget.

I realize there's a lot of opposition. People think their property values are gonna go to zilch. Well, that's just silly. Property doesn't go to zero in this county. Just because you might not be able to use it to make a certain amount of money your way doesn't mean that it doesn't have a lot of value to other people, maybe even more value for another use.

They (residents) are optimistic the five of us (including Mayor Mark Abbott) will work together and do things for the whole city, not just special interests. It's a tremendous honor, it really is, to know how the people feel.

The facts are clear. More funding goes to health care than any other part of the state's budget, and it is sad that the special interests would either ask taxpayers to pay higher taxes or that they would ask our education system or transportation system to receive less.

The biggest problem that we have is that California is being run now by special interests. All of the politicians are not anymore making the moves for the people, but for special interests and we have to stop that.

I just wanted to let people know that this project is going to come in way over budget and fear that lake property owners are going to be stuck paying much more than what they were told. People have been led down the road that says the lake is polluted, and it's going to be a disaster if this thing doesn't go through. And I just don't believe that's the case at all.
