Pierce Transit has been very proactive and very aggressive in their disaster planning. They work closely with our emergency management plan and public safety plan. When we request their help, there's never a question.

Here we have 40,000 people and if we had a day or two notice we could probably get everybody out if we had to evacuate the entire city, ... I think we were perceived as the big, bad city trying to take their land. It's not as if we were trying to annex. This land is nearly worthless without it being cleaned up. And it's only worth something if we work together to clean it up.
